Staff Accountant

Position Title: Staff Accountant Reports to: Senior Accounting Manager, Financial Accounting and Reporting - Finance Location: Solon, OH Position Summary The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounting operations of the Tarkett North American Accounting Shared Service Organization, ensuring accurate financial reporting and maintaining compliance with internal controls and accounting standards. This role plays a key part in the month‑end close process, account reconciliations, and financial analysis. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist with completion of month‑end close processes including consolidation and maintenance of closing files, preparation of journal entries, balance‑sheet reconciliations, and support schedules. Execute intercompany billing processes and ensure timely and accurate transactions. Perform intercompany AP/AR balance reconciliations to support financial reporting accuracy. Monitor SAP for intercompany processing errors and coordinate resolution efforts. Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger. Maintain and reconcile balance‑sheet accounts. Review credit‑card transactions for proper account coding and compliance with internal control policies. Analyze financial data and investigate variances. Support financial statement preparation and reporting. Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and procedures. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (AP, AR, FP&A, IT). Assist with audits by providing required documentation and support. Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation. Prepare ad‑hoc reports and financial analyses as needed. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Accounting Manager. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 1–3+ years of accounting experience (public or corporate). Strong understanding of accounting principles (GAAP). Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar). Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis). Experience with reconciliation tools (e.g., BlackLine) preferred. CPA or CPA candidate is a plus. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. Attention to detail, organized, and thorough with desire for continuous improvement. Exhibits high level of curiosity to develop understanding of the business.
