Psychosocial Rehabilitation (PSR) Generalist

This is a professional position that promotes the philosophy of psychosocial rehabilitation as set forth by the State Medicaid requirements, the International Center for Clubhouse Development (ICCD), and by the United States Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association (USPRA). The program philosophy includes the concepts of recovery, independence, and self-determination for adults with severe and persistent mental illness (SPMI). The person in this position acts as a part of a team of generalists, working side-by-side with consumer members to facilitate the daily operation of the clubhouse. This person in this position functions with a great deal of independence as well as a member of a team. This position functions under the general guidance and supervision of the New Directions Clubhouse Manager.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Actively engage the consumer members in pre-vocational unit activities by working side-by-side with the consumer members to promote the “work ordered day”Advocate on behalf of the members in resolving life management issues at home, work, and in the communityProvide daily living skill training while engaging members in unit activities and responsibilitiesAssist the consumer members in understanding the impact of wage earnings on entitlement benefits and assist consumer members in managing and coordinating benefitsAssist consumer members with needs relative to improving education levelsAssist with securing supported education resourcesServe as a mentor to consumer members attending or returning to schoolPlan, supervise, and coordinate assigned unit activities to maintain stability and smooth operation of the unitProvide feedback to all units toward further development of the clubhouseEnsure appropriate level of activity for the unitParticipate in social and recreational activities on weekdays, evenings, and weekends, as required, including participating, with membership, in the planning of such activitiesComplete special projects and assumes special responsibilities, as assigned, by the New Directions Clubhouse ManagerParticipate in all phases of in-house fundraising projects, including development and implementationParticipate in maintaining the Supportive Employment program, including job development and job coachingResponsible for meeting direct service productivity and documentation standards per agency and program expectations (i.e., progress reports, periodic reviews, initial treatment plans, PSR assessments, orientation, and intake documents)Interface with inter-disciplinary team members outside clubhouse (i.e., nursing staff, psychiatric, and or medical doctors, case managers, outpatient therapists, and residential providers)Must adhere to agency policies and proceduresAdhere to all requirements/standards of the Behavioral Health Telehealth AgreementMust meet agency productivity/performance standardsOther tasks and responsibilities, as assignedREQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIESKnowledge of psychosocial rehabilitative principlesKnowledge of history and philosophy of clubhouse model;Knowledge of International Center for Clubhouse Development standards of operationKnowledge of the theoretical and practical basis of psychology and psychosocial recovery as practiced in community mental health settingsAbility to instruct others through explanation, demonstration, and supervised practiceAbility to convey empathy and understanding toward individuals as they negotiate hurdles to living independentlyAbility to transcend traditional therapist roles in favor of less hierarchal relationships with clubhouse membersFamiliarity with psychotropic medications, their indications and side effectsKnowledge of various evaluative techniques relative to an individual’s readiness to live independentlyKnowledge of techniques for observing and assessing behaviorAbility to work as a member of an inter-disciplinary treatment teamAbility to take initiative to complete duties without need of direct supervisionPossess good organizational, technical, multi-tasking, and human relations skillsAbility to maintain a professional posture in attendance, attitude, conduct, and conflict resolutionKnowledge of community resourcesDemonstrate initiative, analytical skills, organization and attention to detailAbility to establish effective clinical and collaborative relationships with a wide range of personsAbility to exercise conflict resolution measuresAbility to function in a multi-disciplinary team settingAbility to relate to a diverse population which includes a variety of age, economic and educational backgroundsComply with attendance and punctuality policies, as well as all other Development Centers policies and proceduresUnderstand and follow verbal and written instructionsCommunicate effectively, both verbally and in writingWork independentlyInterpret and communicate policies and proceduresDemonstrate customer service focus, with the ability to relate and interact with all levels of the agency and vendorsREQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Minimally, a High School Diploma/GED or a related mental health degreeAppropriate State of Michigan licensure and/or registrationValid State of MI Chauffeur’s License or ability to obtain Chauffeur’s License within 60 days of hireExperience in the human service field and/or life experience indicating readiness to work with adults with Severe and Persistent Mental Illness (SPMI) #J-18808-Ljbffr MiSide Community Impact Network
