About the Role
The Company is seeking a Vice President of Transitional Housing to provide strategic leadership and oversight of all shelter operations within its Department of Homeless Services. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all facilities offer safe, dignified, and trauma-informed environments, while also driving performance milestones to support participants in achieving permanent housing stability. Key responsibilities for this senior leadership role include the development and enhancement of trauma-informed, evidence-based service models, and policies, as well as serving as the company's representative with various external organizations. The VP will also be tasked with maintaining full compliance with all relevant regulations, leading crisis management efforts, and overseeing the financial and operational aspects of the shelter portfolio. Applicants for the Vice President of Transitional Housing position at the company should have a Master’s degree in a relevant field, with a preference for social work, human services, or public administration. A minimum of 7-10 years of progressive management experience in New York City transitional housing, supportive housing, or homeless services is required, with a strong preference for those with a background in DHS shelter operations. The role demands a deep familiarity with NYC DHS regulations and the unique operational differences between single-adult and family shelter systems. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in leading and mentoring staff, managing multi-million-dollar budgets, and ensuring fiscal accountability. Additionally, the VP will be expected to develop and monitor key performance indicators, housing placement targets, and operational benchmarks to drive the success of the shelter programs.
