Date: May 21, 2026 Location: AUSTIN, TX Agency: Health & Human Services Comm Department: HHSC Accounting Posting Number: 15645 Closing Date: 05/27/2026 Salary: $4,500.00 – $4,725.00 per month Shift: Day, Additional Shift: Days (First), Telework: Not Eligible Position Overview Accountant III - Accounts Receivable Voucher Reporting Team Job Summary Performs moderately complex accounting work within the Accounts Receivable Voucher Unit, supporting the State Accounting systems (ARTS, CAPPS, USAS). Responsibilities include processing daily revenue transactions, reconciling financial data across systems, maintaining and improving Voucher Unit procedures, and responding to internal and external inquiries about revenue balances. Essential Job Functions Research and analyze discrepancies between ARTS, CAPPS & USAS systems; reconcile financial transaction data across the accounting systems (25%) Process daily revenue transactions and transfer funds as requested; review Comptroller's Office Daily Financial Report to record transactions in the systems (25%) Review and reconcile journal documents and keep records accurately (20%) Respond to daily inquiries and questions related to the AR Voucher Unit (20%) Work on special projects assigned by management, including ad hoc requests; support AR management as needed (10%) Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and procedures affecting maintenance of accounting records and automated accounting systems. Knowledge of fiscal programs; governmental accounting; laws and regulations affecting financial operations. Skill in using a computer and applicable software. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships both internally and externally to the agency. Ability to interpret and apply accounting theory and laws, work accurately with numerical detail, analyze, consolidate, and interpret accounting data, and communicate effectively. Ability to use complex automated accounting systems, including CAPPS Financials, PeopleSoft Financials, Accounts Receivable Tracking System (ARTS), and USAS. Initial Screening Criteria Experience in accounting and financial operations. Experience with automated accounting systems. Experience in the use of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Acrobat, Outlook). Experience in conducting intensive research and reconciliation preferred. Three years of progressively responsible experience in accounting, finance, auditing, or budgeting.
