Registered Nurse – Medical/Surgical Stroke Stepdown

Utica, New York

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Night Shift (6:30 PM – 7:00 AM) | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 64-bed Medical/Surgical Stroke Stepdown unit serving an adult patient population
• Manage and monitor patients with common diagnoses including stroke, altered mental status, renal/dialysis, COPD, CHF, pneumonia, and general medical/surgical conditions
• Operate specialty equipment including IV pumps, nasogastric tubes, and feeding tubes
• Implement and maintain isolation precautions as required by patient condition
• Float to other units as needed based on staffing and patient care demands

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of New York
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in Medical/Surgical nursing with stroke stepdown experience
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Current NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification (must be obtained prior to start date)
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Proficiency with EPIC EMR

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience caring for patients requiring dialysis or managing pulmonary conditions
• Familiarity with block scheduling environments and flexible shift assignments
