Primary Care Physician Opportunity

The VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System is seeking a dedicated, full-time Primary Care Physician to join one of the nation's largest and most innovative VA healthcare systems. The VA is mission-oriented and provides exceptional care to those who have served in our nation's military. PCPs lead patient-centered medical homes to provide longitudinal and preventative care to a panel of Veterans. Primary care team members include nurses, social workers, integrated mental health providers, and pharmacists, administrative support for scheduling, among others. Education Debt Reduction Program (Student Loan Repayment): This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases

Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)

Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA

Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory

Major duties of this position include but are not limited to:

• Serve as a primary care provider (PCP) in the Homeless Patient Aligned Care Team (HPACT) and Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (VASH) programs.
• Provide primary and acute care services to include chronic disease management and preventive health care to patients across the housing spectrum, including care in the home, community housing programs, and outpatient clinic settings.
• Demonstrate clinical competence in history taking, examination, diagnosis, therapeutic ability, effectiveness in emergencies, patient management consultations, and record keeping.
• Provide same day care for patients and provide coverage for other HPACT providers when needed.
• Participate in Process Improvement/Quality Assurance projects and other administrative duties as assigned.
• Support the VA mission through participation in applicable VA national, VISN, and local quality and process improvement initiatives, including performance measures and monitors, and systems redesign/advanced clinical access projects.
• Work with supervisory and frontline staff in his/her own and other service lines to foster and improve the operation of the section and related system wide initiatives and priorities.
• Communicate with and utilize other disciplines, including nursing, Medicine, and social work, to facilitate treatment planning and implementation.
• Collaborate with a variety of community agencies and engage in problem resolution activities as it pertains to primary care practice for unhoused Veterans
• All other duties as assigned.
