On behalf of The Parkinson's Empowerment Place , it is my pleasure to tell you about an employment opportunity as a Speech Therapist . We are looking for rehab professionals who love working with people with Parkinson’s disease to join us as we build more than just another multidisciplinary clinic. The Parkinson's Empowerment Place is envisioned as a place where skilled care can dovetail with community fitness and support services. We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) offering no-cost group fitness classes and support groups in addition to skilled care services (PT, OT, and ST), plus optional private pay wellness sessions, like personal training all under one roof. We know that community makes all of the difference and are excited about the experience, skills, and dedication you could bring to our organization as we work to improve the lives of individuals living with Parkinson's disease, as well as for their care partners and families.

Employment would be subject to successful completion of any required pre-employment screenings, reference checks, background checks, and verification of your license and authorization to work in the United States.

Position Information

• Position: Speech Language Pathologist
• Reports To: Executive Director Patty Wessels. PT 
• Employment Status: Part-Time (possibility of full-time employment in the future)
• Work Schedule: 20-25 hours per week with dates/times to be determined
• Compensation: up to $55.00 per hour, less applicable taxes and authorized deductions, paid in accordance with the organization's regular biweekly payroll schedule.
• Required: Current Maryland SLP License

Benefits

As an employee of The Parkinson's Empowerment Place, you will have paid holidays and time off. Note that we plan to close the facility for the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day each winter and will close for the week of the Fourth of July each summer.

• Paid holidays: New Year’s Day, Good Friday, Easter Monday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and the Friday after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day
• Paid Time Off (PTO) 3 sick or personal days plus 5 paid vacation days per year for part time employees

  • LSVT LOUD certification/recertification
  • Parkinson’s Voice Project’s SPEAK OUT certification/recertification

Benefit plans may be modified as our center grows with the addition of a 403(b) retirement plan with a 5% employer match anticipated in 2027. Health, dental, and vision plans are not offered at this time but are being discussed as a possibility in the future, depending in part on our rate of growth and total number of employees.

• Maintain confidentiality of participant, volunteer, donor, and organizational information.
• Comply with all organizational policies, procedures, and applicable federal, state, and local laws.
• Successfully complete any required orientation and mandatory training.
• Participate in bimonthly all staff roundtables and training meetings.
