We are seeking a talented Student Engagement Specialist to join our team of nearly 500 employees. CCSI is contracted by Onondaga County to provide program management services, including specialized staffing. The Specialist will support school teams to identify and respond to the needs of youth, implementing trauma-informed and skill focused interventions in an inclusive school climate.

CCSI is partnering with Onondaga County DCFS to hire a/an Student Engagement Specialist. This position is employed by CCSI and working on behalf of Onondaga County DCFS.

In this role, you will

  • Proactively identify students in need of social, behavioral, and mental health supports, and connect those students with opportunities for growth and development within a school’s multi-tiered system of support. (

  • Implement intervention strategies as developed and shared with the school support teams.

  • Link students with available school and community-based services.

  • Track interventions and monitor the effectiveness of these interventions adjusting as needed.

  • Engage students and families to foster positive home-school connections

  • Collaborate with school administrators, social workers, and school team members to ensure service expectations are met.

  • Implement planned interventions to meet student needs as directed by school social worker, psychologist, counselor, or administrator.

  • Serve as a resource/support to faculty regarding social and behavioral concerns of youth.

  • Support the implementation of a culturally inclusive and supportive school climate that centers the voice, the choice, and the needs of youth.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

What you bring

  • Graduation from regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services, Education, or related field, and (2) years professional experience in working with school aged youth, or equivalent education and work experience ( see CCSI's equivalency chart ( )

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work independently and as member of team, and handle multiple priorities

  • Bilingual ability desired

  • Ability to maintain chronological notes for data tracking

  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite

  • Be a consistent and reliable presence for assigned school, community and program responsibilities

  • Set consistent age-appropriate boundaries with youth

  • Able to attend offsite meetings and trainings on time to meet requirements of position.

  • Satisfactory completion of required background screenings: criminal, Statewide Central Register.
