Job Summary:

This Photography Specialist role focuses on the operational, technical, and educational management of the photography studio and lab.

The position centers on maintaining inventory, performing in-house equipment maintenance, and coordinating offsite gear repairs.

Daily tasks include assisting open studio schedules, setting up the online registration portal, and assisting students and faculty with classroom setup and teardowns. As a technical resource, the role provides direct tutoring and expert advice to students during open lab hours and collaborates on equipment research and purchasing.

Additionally, the specialist serves as an additional point of contact for the studio, facilitating smooth communication regarding classroom needs with the Department Chair, faculty, administrative staff, and student workers.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Assist with photography tutoring and technical guidance.

Communicate lab and classroom needs to Department Chair.

Set up and maintain online studio registration portal and schedule.

Equipment maintenance in-house and coordinate offsite repairs and maintenance.

Open studio and lab scheduling.

Assist with equipment research, purchasing and inventory.

Assign duties to lab assistants.

Tutoring during scheduled open studio hours.

Assist students and faculty with studio class set-up and tear-down activities.

Maintain professional communication with the faculty administrative staff, and work studies.

Serve as studio point of contact for department.

Assist with training work studies in studio skills, gear checkout and maintenance, scheduling, equipment training and safety.

Competencies/KSAs:

Ability to navigate differences effectively and respectfully in the workplace.

Adhere to college policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:

Computer competencies in Lightroom and Photoshop, Capture One.

Photography competencies in portrait, large format photography, studio lighting, location lighting, and product photography.

Understanding of studio strobes, large format cameras, speedlights and accessories, as well as DSLR and mirrorless camera equipment.

This is an in-person position with hours to be determined by department needs each semester, including summer semester.

Preferred Qualifications:

Additional photography studio experience.

Selection Process:

Applications are accepted until position is filled. This is a temporary part-time hourly position, not to exceed 28 hours per week.

Must be a State of Colorado resident or able to relocate to Colorado prior to first date of employment.
