About the Facility – Gallup Indian Medical Center The Gallup Indian Medical Center is a 99-bed hospital in Gallup New Mexico, on the border of the Navajo Reservation. Clinical specialties at the GIMC include internal medicine, cardiology, anesthesia, OB Slash GYN, general surgery, orthopedics, ophthalmology, ENT, radiology, pathology, pediatrics, psychiatry, emergency medicine, and urology. The workload at Gallup is one of the largest in the Indian Health Service with 250,000 outpatient encounters and 5800 inpatient admissions annually. GIMC is the largest staff of all Navajo area client facilities. Facility address: 1808 West Aztec Ave. Gallup NM 87301ResponsibilitiesThe PT shall be responsible for planning, reviewing, and implementing treatment programs based upon initial and interim evaluations. Communicates and collaborates with patients, family members, caregivers, and interdisciplinary professionals. Adapts assessment tools and treatments to the complexity of the diagnosis or disabilities and demonstrates the clinical reasoning necessary to identify the need for further in-depth specific assessment of function and utilization of non-standard methods and techniques. Documents plan of care and care given in patient's medical record. Monitors patient's response to interventions, modifies treatment plan, and reevaluates as indicated to meet short-term and long-term goals. Expected to interpret findings from examination and evaluation, select appropriate tests and measures, and integrate findings into the physical therapy plan of care for the full range of patient populations. Measures patients for assistive devices and special equipment. Fits devices for patient needs and instructs patient/care provider in the use of these devices. The PT will develop home programs for patients as needed prior to discharge and instructs patients, family, or caregivers in implementation of home program. Provides consultation, as needed, to peers and other staff responsible for the care of the assigned patient. Provides clinical oversight and collaboration with physical therapy assistants. Provides patient care which is appropriate to cognitive, emotional, and chronological maturation needs of young, middle, and older adults' patients. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. The PT maintains equipment and clinic in a safe and orderly manner in accordance with safety and infection control policies, Joint Commission, and other relevant policies.RequirementsShall be Board certified Physical Therapist. Shall have a minimum of twelve (12) to thirty-six (36) months of therapist experience. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) are mandatory. All physical Therapist shall possess a current, valid, unrestricted physician license in the state, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a Territory of the United States, throughout the term of this contract.
