Surgical Oncologist Position

Start Date: As soon as possible

Compensation: $536,000 - $570,000 annually

We are in search of a board-certified or board-eligible Complex General Surgical Oncologist with expertise in hepato-pancreato-biliary (HPB) surgery and melanoma/soft tissue sarcoma for a clinical track faculty role. This position will be based at Munson Healthcare in Traverse City, Michigan, as part of the Division of Surgical Oncology.

The Division of Surgical Oncology is a vibrant and collaborative team dedicated to delivering advanced care for patients facing malignant and complex benign conditions. Our Department of Surgery, established in 1850, is globally acknowledged for its excellence in patient care, research, and education. We work closely with the Rogel Cancer Center at the University of Michigan, which is recognized as a Comprehensive Cancer Center by the NCI and is a leader in clinical cancer care and research.

Facility Overview

Munson Medical Center, located in Traverse City, is the largest tertiary care hospital in the Munson system, featuring 450 beds and a Level II Trauma Center. The picturesque Traverse City, situated along the shores of Grand Traverse Bay, offers a vibrant four-season lifestyle, abundant outdoor activities, and a strong community spirit.

As part of the Munson Healthcare Regional Cancer Network, the Cowell Family Cancer Center in Traverse City is revolutionizing cancer care in Northern Michigan. The center provides a range of services, including:

• Radiation Oncology
• Hematology Oncology
• Gynecologic Oncology
• Chemotherapy
• Therapeutic infusions
• Radioligand infusion
• Bi-specific T-cell engager therapy

This cancer center serves as the central hub for six regional infusion and medical oncology clinics across Northern Michigan.

Collaboration and Team Environment

In this role, you will collaborate closely with our General Surgery and Trauma team, which consists of 13 surgeons, including three dedicated trauma specialists. This supportive environment encourages a strong work-family culture and enhances your practice.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a clinical focus and experience in complex general surgical oncology, particularly in treating conditions related to the pancreas, liver, gastrointestinal tract, and melanoma/soft tissue sarcoma. A completed fellowship in complex general surgical oncology is required.
