Windows Systems Administrator

OverviewWe're seeking a Systems Administrator to join a collaborative infrastructure team supporting a mixed Windows, virtualization, and Linux environment. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys taking ownership of core infrastructure, automating processes, troubleshooting complex issues, and working closely with developers and technical teams.The role will primarily focus on Windows Server administration, VMware management, and Active Directory support, while also providing exposure to Linux systems and an upcoming virtualization migration initiative.Key ResponsibilitiesAdminister and maintain Windows Server environments, including patching, upgrades, monitoring, and troubleshootingServe as the primary administrator for VMware vCenter/vSphere infrastructureSupport Microsoft SQL Server environments, including installations, patching, maintenance, and service health monitoringManage Active Directory, Group Policy, and related infrastructure servicesDevelop and maintain PowerShell automation for routine administrative tasksAssist with planning and execution of virtualization migration projectsBuild, configure, and deploy new servers as neededSupport Linux systems alongside the broader infrastructure teamCreate and maintain technical documentation and operational proceduresParticipate in system maintenance, upgrades, performance tuning, and issue resolutionCollaborate closely with developers and other technical teams to support business-critical applicationsRequired Qualifications5+ years of Windows Server administration experience in a production environmentHands-on experience administering VMware vCenter/vSphereStrong Active Directory administration experienceExperience supporting Microsoft SQL Server on WindowsPowerShell scripting experienceStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilitiesExcellent written and verbal communication skillsPreferred QualificationsLinux administration experience (RHEL, Ubuntu, CentOS, or similar)Experience with PowerCLIExperience with Proxmox, KVM, or hypervisor migrationsExperience building server environments from scratchExperience supporting enterprise or large-scale environmentsBackground in higher education, government, or public-sector organizationsAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionTechnical EnvironmentWindows ServerVMware vCenter / vSphereActive DirectoryMicrosoft SQL ServerPowerShell / PowerCLILinux (RHEL, Ubuntu)Proxmox (planned migration initiative)Why This Opportunity?Contract-to-hire opportunity with long-term potentialHybrid work schedule (2-3 days onsite)Opportunity to take ownership of critical infrastructure systemsExposure to virtualization modernization projectsCollaborative, team-oriented environmentMix of operational support, automation, and project-based workOpportunity to make a direct impact on end users through technology improvementsJob Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Raleigh, NC.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $40.00 - $48.00/hr.
