SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR

Systems AdministratorReporting to the Supervisor of Operations, this position ensures high levels of IT customer service and infrastructure services. The role requires a thorough understanding of Active Directory/Azure AD, Single Sign-On and Office 365. The ideal candidate will have extensive IT support experience and a working knowledge of device configuration, account provisioning, applications support, and deployment at large scale within an educational environment. In addition, the candidate should have strong problem solving and communication skills to deliver on challenging project goals.Administer and provide support for Microsoft Azure, Office 365, and Single Sign-On.Develops innovative solutions to script software packages and application deployments for complex installations.Strong understanding of Active Directory, particularly with implementing/troubleshooting Group Policy Objects (GPOs) and Group Policy Preferences (GPPs).Administer, manage and maintain the Google Suite ecosystem.Administer and manage the publishing and revocation of extensions in the Chrome app store.Draft technical documentation to formalize the deployment standards, installation details, processes, and procedures adding to the knowledge base related to deployment configurations.Automating processes using Powershell scripts.Perform regular backup operations and implement appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures.Responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, network servers, and virtualization.Troubleshoot software related problems with third party application/system vendors to implement, upgrade, assess software applications, and resolve user issues to meet business requirements.Maintain support of various software database servers including but not limited to: software updates, user maintenance, and troubleshooting errors.Perform software distribution and patch management to 70,000+ Windows PC's, Apple MacOS/iOS and Chromebook devices.Provide functional and technical written evaluations of products and operating system upgrades and patches.May serve as lead-worker with respect to other technology services employees on various technical projects.Operates a work-order tracking system (Help Desk) to receive and clear daily work requests.Evaluate new software requests submitted to ensure compatibility with varied environments.Repackage as needed new and upgrade applications/plug-ins for deployment into the production environment.Provide broad range of third tier support for escalated desktop issues.Communicate with users, management, and other team members to determine the nature of software needs and issues to allow for effective deployment and use.Assembles computer-related equipment according to schematic diagrams and written instructions.Trains technical staff at the system and building level.Answers telephone, provides immediate technical assistance if possible, refers calls to appropriate persons or creates a work order request for additional on-site support.Provides on-site assistance to users with utilization of available hardware and software.Maintains software license agreements and inventory of equipment and components as required.Lifts, carries and moves computer equipment as required.Associate's degree in computer related field supplemented by specialized coursework in the area of technology, and 2 to 3 years of experience developing technical expertise; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Coursework or certification with Apple or Microsoft preferred.Possession of a valid driver's license issued by the State of North Carolina and a personal vehicle for use during work hours.Must be physically able to operate a variety of equipment and tools including computers, scanners, adding machines, computer software, computer hardware, etc.Must be able to exert up to 30 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 5 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work.Requires the ability to compare and/or judge the readily observable, functional, structural or composite characteristics (whether similar or divergent from obvious standards) of data, people or things.Requires the ability to speak and/or signal people to convey or exchange information. Must have minimal levels of eye/hand/foot coordination.Requires the ability to differentiate between colors and shades of color.Requires the ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions. Hearing: perceiving nature of sounds by ear.)General knowledge of software copying rights of the school system.General knowledge of the techniques used in systems analysis and design. General knowledge of the current literature, trends and developments in the field of technology and networking.Strong working knowledge of core technologies (including but not limited to): AD, O365, Azure, Exchange, WAN/LAN/Wi-Fi, VOIP, Core Networking, Cloud Services, Powershell, Windows and Apple OS/iOS.Working knowledge of virtualization, Hyper-V, or equivalent.Strong working knowledge with the Google Suite Admin Console.Experience with scripting and automations tools.Strong working knowledge with MDM technologies (including but not limited to): Jamf, Google Admin Console, InTune.Strong working knowledge with MIM and Account Provisioning.Understanding of partner ecosystems and the ability to leverage partner solutions to solve district IT needs.Willingness to work flexible hours, non-business hours, or other scenarios required by the flow of operations.Ability to systematically determine the source of computer problems and take appropriate action.Ability to perform initial installations or upgrades of computer hardware.Ability to troubleshoot problems with network hardware and software.Ability to train users on the use of equipment and various programs.The preceding job description has been designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by employees within this classification.
