Payroll Specialist in Fresno, CA. Temporary-to-hire opportunity working full-time hours, Monday through Friday, on-site in South Fresno. Salary: $20 - $25 per hour. Job Details We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Consulting Payroll Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of payroll processing for our diverse client base. You will be part of a team that is dedicated to providing the highest level of service and support to our clients. This role requires a detail-oriented professional with a strong understanding of payroll procedures and regulations, as well as an ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously. Responsibilities Oversee and manage all aspects of payroll processing for employees (union and non-union), including but not limited to wages, deductions, sick pay, vacation time, and accruals. Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates. Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports of payroll transactions. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices. Facilitate audits by providing records and documentation to auditors. Identify and recommend updates to payroll processing software, systems, and procedures. Perform monthly, quarterly, and year-end payroll reconciliations. Work closely with HR and accounting teams to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and statutory compliance. Handle payroll tax, garnishments, union and non-union issues, and other payroll-related activities. Participate in special projects as required. Qualifications A minimum of 2+ years of experience in payroll or a related field. Proficient with Paychex and other payroll systems. Comprehensive understanding of local, state, and federal payroll and tax regulations. Experience with garnishments, union and non-union payroll, compensation, payroll taxes, employee records, wages, calculations, evaluations, manual checks, vacation time, sick pay, accrual, deductions, reporting, tracking, benefits, EEOC, and monthly reporting. Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. High level of accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion. Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field is preferred. Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation is a plus. Experience in managing and completing projects is required. Benefits Full-time hours with the ability to work overtime. Stable company.
