We are the secret ingredient to make food extraordinary in some of the world's best loved brands.As a Project Engineer you will be responsible for executing capital projects and performing various engineering support for capital projects in a unionized plant that produces xanthan and gellan gum. Project engineering efforts include identifying and implementing process improvements which result in higher throughput, improved efficiencies, recognizable cost savings and more consistent product quality. You will be responsible for all facets of scope development, AR development and submittal, detailed project design, and construction supervision and executing capital projects and performing various engineering support for capital projects. Responsible for quality and food safety within their realm of control.Level 3 – Important RoleEHSQ focus is 100% task orientedResponsible for area specific EHSQ procedures/policy adherenceEHSQMS Element SupportResponsible for reporting all incidents, defects, and hazardsInvolved in EHSQ specific checks and inspections for policy adherenceAll employees are responsible for:Compliance with procedures that implement the requirements of the EHSQ policies and proceduresBeing responsible for their own actionsCarrying out their work in a manner which does not present a risk to themselves, others, and the environmentReporting all incidents, defects, hazards, and inadequacies of procedures so that appropriate review and corrective action can be taken.Suggesting improvements and being active in the general improvement of all systems and methods of work to ensure EHSQ supports activities and services are carried out in a safe, environmentally responsible, reliable, and cost-effective manner.MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:Coordinate and supervise design efforts and provide field monitoring to ensure construction compliance with designs.Incorporate safety and regulatory compliance into all assigned projects scope and design.In Conjunction with Plant Leadership Team, develops annual and long-term capital plans for the site.Conduct and Participate in Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), Management of Change (MOC) and Pre-Start Up Safety reviews, Process Safety Management (PSM) audits, and Incident Investigations.Develop process flow sheets, preliminary plant layouts and piping and instrument diagrams.Perform or direct preparation of process and detail design calculations as required.Check detail design work, drawings and calculations performed by designers and drafting personnel.Select equipment to perform a specific function and develop or direct development of specifications for the equipment or process.Develop cost estimates, construction schedules and maintain cost control on projects.Develop bid packages and solicit and evaluate bids from various contractors.Approve purchase requisitions for equipment and construction activities within the limits set by the appropriation and grant of authority.Establish and maintain project files and enter material into permanent equipment and process files.Supervise compilation of process and equipment information and may develop preliminary operating procedures.Coordinate, control and supervise design personnel assigned to projects.Work independently with minimum supervision.Maintain current knowledge or access to applicable codes and regulations.Protect all proprietary information and property against loss of any kind. This includes, but is not limited to, confidential reports and memos, process and product knowledge, equipment and research methodology.Ensure contractor compliance with site contractor safety policy.SKILLS, TRAINING and EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering; other Engineering degrees will be considered with demonstrated Project Engineering experience.Minimum of 5 years' experience performing project management, with a strong preference for candidates with chemical or fermentation industry experience.Liaise with Process Engineering, Maintenance, Management, and Production personnel to provide process specifications as required to fully implement project improvements.Maintain project control and accountability until the projects are accepted by the manufacturing group and all project goals are met.Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required.Strong Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).Other qualifications and competencies required in this position include initiative, coaching and leadership capabilities, problem-solving skills, innovative thinking, and a willingness to focus on customer needs.Six Sigma or Lean manufacturing experience is a plus.Working knowledge of SAP is a plus.Tate & Lyle complies with all local/state regulations requiring salary range transparency.When determining final compensation, we take into consideration: skillset, job scope, knowledge, prior experience, cost of living, market data, budget availability, and other factors as permitted by law.The salary range for this position is: $70,000 - 85,000.In addition to competitive pay, we offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that includes but is not limited to:Medical, Dental, Vision coveragesPaid time off package, including vacation, sick time, and 16 weeks of paid parental leave401K with company matchCompany paid life insuranceAdditional benefits at not cost to employee such as: Lifestyle Spending Account, Identity Theft protection, Employee Assistance Program, telemedicine and more!In addition to your Total Rewards, culture and ED&I are very important to Tate & Lyle.
