Job No: 503806 Work Type: Staff Full Time (1500 hours or greater) Location: Dayton, OH Category: University Staff Department: Women's X Country / Track & Field - 500401 Pay Grade: A - Exempt Advertised: August 18, 2026 Applications close: August 24, 2026 Position Summary The Assistant Women's Track and Field Coach supports and assists the Head Coach with the organization and direction of all aspects of a highly competitive Track and Field program. The assistant coach will instruct, train, and coach student-athletes in the jumps, sprints, and hurdles, and will partner with the Head Coach on the multi-events. Dayton operates as an integrated coaching staff: event-group coaches lead their areas while collaborating across event groups on training design, athlete development, and competition preparation within a unified program philosophy set by the Head Coach. The assistant coach will instruct student athletes for purposes of academic, social development, compliance requirements, and safety and health considerations. Additionally, this coach is tasked with identification, recruitment and support of athletically and academically qualified student athletes, sports specific training and program development, and contest preparation. The Assistant Coach supports the Head Coach in administrative and leadership processes for team travel, program budgets, academic success, fundraising, public/alumni relations, and promoting the philosophy and objectives of the Department of Athletics and the University of Dayton. The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate expertise in all aspects of coaching student-athletes and demonstrate a commitment to the highest ideals of leadership, sportsmanship and academics with demonstrated and successful experience working with people from diverse backgrounds. This is a full time, 12 month position with benefits. This position will require some evening, weekend and holiday work. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree Collegiate track & field coaching experience Experience in the jumps, sprints, hurdles or multi events Able to work flexible hours including many evenings, weekends and some holidays Excellent written communication skills Possess a valid driver's license, have a low risk driving record and be insurable by the university Preferred Qualifications Division 1 track & field coaching experience USATF Level 1 certification and/or USTFCCCA event-specific certification (sprints, hurdles, jumps, or combined events) Collegiate track & field competitive experience Experience in recruiting qualified student-athletes Demonstrate excellent verbal communication skills, organizational/administrative skills Demonstrate good working knowledge of and a personal commitment to adhering to institutional, conference and NCAA policy, rules and regulations.
