Infection Preventionist Compensation

• Pay rate: $44.85

Infection Preventionist Responsibilities:

• Provides infection prevention and control support to programs and monitors activities to ensure alignment with objectives and milestones.
• Creates and updates standard operating procedures and protocols related to infection prevention and control.
• Participates in strategic planning to promote infection prevention efforts across the state.
• Conducts on-site and teleconference assessments in healthcare and congregate care settings, including long-term care, assisted living, and memory care facilities, with subsequent report dissemination.
• Follows up with facilities to ensure implementation of recommendations and provides education to licensing surveyors on infection control practices.
• Conducts infection prevention trainings on topics such as PPE, hand hygiene, cleaning, disinfection, and surveillance using various educational formats.
• Provides consultation and support during outbreak investigations and drafts technical reports, guidelines, and educational materials on infection prevention.

Infection Preventionist QUALIFICATIONS:

Critical Information:

• Remote, hybrid, or on-site work options, with travel involved.
• Follow all compliance and submission requirements related to infection control standards and practices.

Education/Licenses Needed:

• Bachelor’s Degree in an applied clinical science (nursing, public health, microbiology, clinical laboratory science, medical technology, or related field); Master’s degree preferred.
• Certified in Infection Control (CIC) by the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc. (CBIC) required.
• Experience as an infection preventionist (IP) in acute care infection prevention required.
