Pain Management Specialist (Anesthesiology or PM&R Pain Management)
Murfreesboro VA | Tennessee Valley Healthcare System
Compensation: $330,000 - $370,000 annually
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday (hours determined by service requirements)
Primary Responsibilities:
Utilize extensive knowledge of pathophysiology, neurochemistry, and psychological factors in pain management.
Assess Veterans suffering from chronic pain through detailed history-taking, physical examinations, and analysis of imaging studies.
Expertly conduct diagnostic and therapeutic invasive procedures, including:
Radiofrequency techniques
Spinal cord stimulator implantation
Caudal and epidural injections
Lumbar sympathetic blocks
Upper and lower plexus blocks
Oversee spinal opioid management and the implantation of intrathecal pumps for chronic pain relief.
Effectively communicate (both verbally and in writing) with interdisciplinary teams and management.
Provide educational guidance to Pain Clinic staff, Primary Care Providers, and other medical professionals regarding pain management strategies.
Assist in scheduling for the Pain Clinic and contribute to the formulation of clinic policies and standard operating procedures.
Required Qualifications:
Completion of a residency in Anesthesiology or Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R)
Completion of a fellowship in Pain Management
Board certification from the American Board of Anesthesiology or the American Board of PM&R
