Capital One’s Retail Bank is the 4th largest in the nation. Our Checking, Savings, and CD products are our core offering, but our customer success is heavily driven by our Channels & Operations (C&O) ecosystem — our Call Centers, Cafés, Branches, and Servicing teams. These channels build and maintain enduring customer relationships.

Your Role:

We are seeking top tier strategy talent who is nimble and forward thinking to lead Special Projects in our Retail Bank Channels & Operations (C&O) Strategy & Insights team.

• Lead Strategic Projects: Take ownership of and drive high priority strategic bodies of work in the Retail Bank’s Channels & Operations CXS team (e.g. collaborating with Corporate Strategy and other Retail Bank strategy teams on questions related to the Discover Integration, Physical Footprint, and Future of Retail Bank Servicing Strategy to meet our ambitious growth objectives)

• Executive Influence: Act as the key thought partner to the leadership team in Channels Experience & Strategy (SD/VP level); helping to facilitate strategic planning, ongoing tracking of progress of critical high priority initiatives, and cross-team prioritization

• Team & Culture: Provide cross-team management oversight and support for our team of ~500 associates across BA, Product, Project, and Operations job families

• Strategic leadership:  Develop business strategies that will drive growth, profitability, and competitive success for Capital One in the face of shifting consumer and regulatory demands 

• Leadership:  Manage and develop multiple team members.  Coaching and mentoring associates with a goal of developing and retaining talent at Capital One 

• Strategic; analytic orientation: A proven track record of decision making and problem solving based on analytics. Conceptual thinking skills must be complemented by a strong quantitative orientation and the ability to identify and articulate clear areas of business leverage. 

• Strong business judgment, leadership and integrity: They should be a tenacious decision maker, able to bring a healthy, aggressive, yet responsible approach to business 

• Solid people leadership experience: Ability to build and leverage the capabilities of a high-performing team, as well as business partners across the enterprise. They should foster innovation, drive critical decisions, hold business partners accountable, and be able to consistently deliver results 

• Strong executive communication skills: strong written and oral communication credentials, coupled with strategic influencing skills and the ability to drive agreement through intellect, interpersonal and negotiation skills 

• Clear results orientation: display an intense focus on achieving both short and long term goals. They should be able to drive and execute an agenda in an uncertain and fluid environment

• Successful track record of thriving in a fast paced, entrepreneurial and dynamic environment. Previous consulting experience is a plus

Basic Qualifications: 

• Bachelor’s Degree

• At least 4 years of experience performing quantitative analysis

• At least 4 years of experience performing qualitative analysis

• At least 2 years of experience performing people management

• At least 2 years of experience performing project management

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Master’s Degree 

• 2+ years of experience in financial services 

• 1+ year of experience in consulting

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

McLean, VA: $230,400 - $263,000 for Business Director

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
