Grants Management Specialist (Contract)

Location: Washington, DC (Onsite)
Duration: Immediate Start through October 16
Schedule: Full-Time, Monday-Friday

A DC Government agency is seeking a detail-oriented Grants Management Specialist to provide critical support for pre-award and award activities related to assigned grant programs and FY26 grant awards. This is an excellent opportunity for a professional with grants administration experience who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and can manage multiple priorities while meeting strict deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide administrative and project-level support for grant programs.
• Complete required grant forms and documentation using established templates.
• Gather and verify applicant compliance documents and submission requirements.
• Coordinate with grantees, program staff, and the grants team throughout the grant award process.
• Respond to inquiries from grantees, internal grants staff, and program teams in a timely and professional manner.
• Prepare grant agreements, award documents, and related correspondence using Microsoft Word and other standardized templates.
• Perform first-level reviews of grant documents, notifications, and supporting materials for completeness and accuracy.
• Generate reports, portfolio analyses, and other data-driven submissions.
• Maintain accurate electronic grant award records within the agency's online grants management system.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support the grants team.
• Collaborate effectively as a positive, team-oriented contributor.

Required Qualifications

• Associate degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred in Business, Finance, Grants Management, Public Administration, or a related field.
• Knowledge of grantmaking and grants management processes.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite , including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Experience using Smartsheet .
• Strong organizational and planning skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet stringent deadlines.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while providing exceptional customer service to internal and external stakeholders.

Preferred Skills

• Experience supporting government grant programs.
• Familiarity with electronic grants management systems.
• Strong analytical and reporting skills.
