Business Development Officer

Job Function -
Leads the deposit acquisition efforts in assigned markets with a focus on lead generation and prospect management. Researches client businesses and provides prospective customers/clients with Bank services offered. Works with clients to create solutions for their needs through the consultative sales process.


Job Responsibilities -

Proactively identifies and engages with potential deposit customers through networking, community involvement, and referrals.

Builds and maintains strong relationships with existing clients, fostering trust and long-term partnerships.

Collaborates with sales and leadership to secure, retain, and grow deposit accounts.

Develops customized deposit targeted sales strategies.

Promotes the bank's financial products and services, focusing on solutions that meet customer needs.

Collaborates with management on sales goals, planning, and forecasting as needed.

Provides exceptional customer service, acting as a trusted advisor to clients and helping them navigate their financial decisions.

Answers potential client questions and follow-up call questions.

Creates and maintains a list/database of prospect clients.

Collaborates with the management to develop and execute business development strategies aimed at achieving branch and bank-wide deposit goals.

Makes cold/warm calls and multiple outbound calls to potential clients as necessary.

Understands client needs and offers solutions and support through a consultative process.

Closes sales and works with client through the closing process as applicable.

Ensures that own work is in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, policies and guidelines.

Performs all other duties as assigned.

Education and Related Experience -
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in business development, sales, or deposit origination in the banking or financial services industry required.
• 5+ years of cash management, sales and relationship management experience required.

• Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to communicate effectively and project a professional image when giving and taking information in writing, in person and over the phone.
• Good interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively lead and work with individuals and groups at all organization levels; ability to work independently and as part of a team; ability to instruct and train others.
• Knowledge and understanding of banking rules, regulations and laws and all policies and procedures pertaining to them.
• Ability to take initiative and prioritize tasks; good time-management, organizational, multitasking, problem-prevention and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to handle confidential and proprietary information
• Ability to identify, analyze and solve complex issues quickly with logic and reasoning.
• Exhibit a professional, business like appearance and demeanor.
• Strong experience with lead generation and prospect management in a financial institution
• Comfortable making cold calls and talking to new people
• Superior ability to call, connect and interact with potential customers
• Possesses an energetic, outgoing, and friendly demeanor

• In-depth understanding of company services and its position in the industry

Working Conditions and/or Physical Requirements -
• Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines.
• Ability to operate a keyboard if required performing the essential job functions.
• Ability to read and interpret a document.
• Ability to travel if required to perform the essential job functions.
• Ability to lift/move/carry approximately 20 pounds if required to perform the essential job functions.
