Department: 36311 Atrium Health Pineville - MRI Status: Full time Benefits Eligible: Yes Hours Per Week: 36 Schedule Details/Additional Information: Weeknights, Monday-Thursday, 9:00pm-6:30am. No required call. Sign‑on bonus offered for eligible candidates. Pay Range: $35.50 - $53.25 Job Summary The MRI Technologist I performs procedures in accordance with departmental protocols and standards. Operates MRI scanners and associated equipment with a high level of proficiency, including scanner, post‑processing stations, IV contrast injectors, O2 and suction equipment, patient transport, and patient monitoring equipment. Essential Functions Examines requests and verifies orders for each assigned patient; refers or questions orders to the radiologist before performing exam. Properly identifies patients using two identifiers and provides a brief explanation of procedures. Interviews patients for a complete medical history; reviews EMR to obtain pertinent clinical history and records history on requisitions. Assumes responsibility for the exam from beginning until completion of results. Prepares and administers IV contrast according to departmental protocols. Evaluates technical quality of images and consults with a radiologist if needed. Performs basic patient care functions and informs nursing personnel of any changes in the patient’s condition. Performs MRI scanning and assists physicians/PA during invasive procedures; practices sterile technique. Is authorized to obtain medication or contrast material as directed by a licensed practitioner. Practices radiation safety for self, employees, patients, and family members. Reports malfunctioning equipment to the department director/manager/supervisor and clinical engineering. Maintains knowledge and skills required to work safely in an environment that can create significant exposure to bloodborne pathogens. Adheres to hospital fire and safety procedures and attends all in‑service classes. Operates radiology computer system to include entering orders and charging procedures/supplies. Maintains assigned work area in a neat and orderly fashion; keeps area stocked and clean. Assists other medical personnel during exams or services in conjunction with MRI scans. Maintains knowledge of all MRI safety requirements for staff and patients in magnetic fields. Minimum Job Requirements Education, Certification / License, Work Experience: Graduate of an institution accredited by an agency recognized by ARRT in Radiologic or Nuclear Medicine Technology. Active enrollment in an MRI ARRT registry eligible or ARMRIT program required; registry must be obtained within 1 year of hire. CPR certification required. Knowledge / Skills / Abilities: Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and the skills appropriate to the ages, culture, developmental stages, and special needs of the patient population served. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions Requires moderate to heavy physical effort in lifting and moving patients, equipment, and supplies. Occasional standing, walking, and sitting; may involve stretching, bending, twisting, squatting, or kneeling. Exposure to hard surfaces, stairs, moving equipment; must use radiation safety guidelines to prevent ionizing radiation exposure.
