At our core, we are Advanced Energy – powering the future, together.POSITION SUMMARY: We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer II to support high volume manufacturing test station design, analysis, and documentation for advanced power and RF products. This role contributes across the product development lifecycle, working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative, manufacturable, and reliable test solutions for finished goods as well as innovative module test fixture solutions.RESPONSIBILITIES:Participate in mechanical design and development activities across the product lifecycle, to support component level testing as well as high volume finished good production testingDesign and develop mechanical components including sheet metal, machined, molded, and 3D-printed partsSupport the design and analysis of thermal management solutions such as heat sinks, cold plates, and cooling systemsCreate and maintain engineering documentation, drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs)Collaborate with cross-functional teams (electrical, firmware, manufacturing, supply chain, and quality) to meet design requirementsSupport prototype builds, lab testing, and troubleshooting activitiesAssist in material selection and validation for product performance and reliabilityContribute to supplier interactions to ensure manufacturability, cost, and quality targets are achievedConduct thermal and structural analysis using simulation tools and validate results through testingDesign experiments and analyze data to improve test performance and reliabilityApply DFM/DFT principles to optimize test solution design and manufacturabilityWORK ENVIRONMENT:Location: Fort Collins, Colorado Work is split between a standard office environment, an engineering lab, and/or clean room.QUALIFICATIONS :Understanding of mechanical engineering principles including design, materials, and manufacturing processesProficiency or exposure to 3D CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks or equivalent)Familiarity with mechanical components such as sheet metal, machined, molded, or fabricated partsBasic knowledge of tolerance analysis and GD&T principlesAbility to perform hands-on lab work, testing, and troubleshootingStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsEffective communication and collaboration skillsFamiliarity with simulation tools (e.g., Ansys or similar)Ability to work more independently and contribute to design decisionsAbility to lead design project and coordinate cross functional inputEXPERIENCE:2-5 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with related experienceExperience designing and validating mechanical systems in a professional environmentExperience with thermal management, simulation, or product development preferredExperience applying DFM/DFA principlesExperience with tolerance stack-ups and GD&T (ANSI Y14.5)Experience with thermal design and analysis (heat transfer, cooling systems)EDUCATION:Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field requiredCOMPENSATION: As required by multiple state pay transparency laws, Advanced Energy provides a reasonable range of compensation for each job posting. Actual compensation is influenced by an array of factors including, but not limited to, skill set, level of experience, and specific office location.
