Executive Director of Operations
$135k - $155kDESTINATION TOMORROW INC
Destination Tomorrow (DT) is a national grassroots LGBTQ+ organization founded in the Bronx, built on the principle that no individual should have to leave their neighborhood for necessary services. DT's mission is to move clients off the path of emergency care to one where they can grow, learn, and flourish by emphasizing economic, social, and mental empowerment through comprehensive educational, financial, and health programs, as well as housing solutions. As an expanding multi-site organization, Destination Tomorrow proudly serves the community across The Bronx, New York City; Atlanta, GA; and Washington, D.C. Position Summary The Executive Director of Operations (ED Ops) is Destination Tomorrow's enterprise infrastructure leader, translating strategic vision into operational architecture—aligning the executive team and building the internal capacity, accountability systems, analytics capabilities, compliance and risk governance frameworks necessary to support enterprise-wide excellence and sustainable expansion. As the agency grows, the ED Ops ensures that workforce systems and process discipline shift from ad hoc execution to structured, repeatable, and enforceable. Building on the agency's existing design, under the direction of the CEO and CSO, the ED Ops develops a cross-agency operational framework that replicates the DT Community Model across office locations and client sites. Specific requirements for housing plug into this framework. Day-to-day housing operations remain with Social Services leadership. Core Responsibilities Establish and facilitate the enterprise executive operating rhythm, eliminating fragmentation across verticals and ensuring infrastructure planning aligns with strategic initiatives, revenue campaigns, and major organizational milestones. Introduce standardized governance, reporting, and accountability processes across operational and programmatic leadership. Ensure executive dashboards include performance metrics, risk summaries, workforce indicators, and operational health signals, and are integrated into QBRs, Board reporting cycles, and enterprise risk reviews. Partner with the CEO, CSO, and Executive Director of Social Services (EDSS) to translate 3- and 5-year strategic plans into operational roadmaps covering staffing, facilities, technology, systems, and sustained budgeting. Partner with the EDSS to ensure enterprise systems, reporting structures, workforce infrastructure, and operational governance effectively support frontline program delivery and client services. Enterprise Operating Framework & Organizational Scaling Lead the operational framework for replication of the DT Community Model across new offices and client sites, ensuring standardized processes, staffing plans, and governance structures. Own and maintain the standardized enterprise core of DT's client site staff operating manuals — security, clinical operations, onboarding, and site procedures — into which each site integrates its approved protocol variations. Design and standardize core operational playbooks for repeatable agency processes such as new program launches, location openings, procurement cycles, IT deployments, and cross-agency initiatives. Partner with the EDSS to operationalize scalable service delivery models while preserving program quality, compliance, and client experience during expansion. Manage corporate administrative facilities, leases, and enterprise physical infrastructure. (Housing program sites remain under Social Services leadership, with close coordination on enterprise standards, compliance, and facilities support.) Manage NYC and ATL office managers to promote consistent, professional, efficient office operations and employee and visitor experience. Risk, Compliance & Legal Serve as primary Enterprise Risk Manager, owning the Enterprise Risk Register by consolidating risk inputs across the agency and external stakeholders, and maintaining visibility across financial, operational, programmatic, compliance, and reputational risks. Define and enforce a standardized enterprise risk rating methodology (e.g., likelihood × impact), ensuring consistency in reporting across all verticals. Establish and facilitate quarterly Enterprise Risk Reviews with executive leadership to evaluate risk exposure, mitigation strategies, and mitigation planning. Escalate material risks to the CEO and Board as appropriate, ensuring timely transparency and decision-making. Oversee Compliance, ensuring regulatory adherence across all jurisdictions, including IT security, data privacy, facility safety, contract governance, and enterprise-wide legal coordination. Oversee organizational insurance coverage, vendor risk assessments, procurement standards, and contract policies to ensure risk mitigation and operational consistency. Technology, Data & Analytics Oversee the enterprise IT strategy and manage the IT Lead, ensuring systems scalability, cybersecurity posture, CRM optimization, and technology alignment with organizational growth. Ensure analytics infrastructure supports enterprise governance needs, as well as program outcome measurement frameworks as defined by the EDSS and financial forecasting requirements defined by the CFO. Ensure data integrity, system alignment, and cross-department reporting consistency across all locations and service lines. Manage the Data & Analytics Lead, ensuring development and maintenance of agency-wide dashboards, KPI tracking systems, and integrated reporting frameworks that support executive governance, risk review, financial forecasting, and program performance measurement. Workforce Infrastructure & Organizational Capacity Integrate workforce planning into operational scaling efforts, including new site launches, service expansions, and leadership succession readiness. Collaborate with Human Resources to ensure: Staffing models align with 3- and 5-year growth roadmaps developed in partnership with the CEO and CSO. Performance management systems reinforce accountability within the executive operating rhythm, including QBRs and structured review cycles. Workforce policies and employment practices mitigate enterprise risk and align with regulatory standards across all operating locations. Own operational expenditure forecasting (OpEx), working closely with the CFO and CSO to ensure alignment with annual budgets and long-term financial models. Identify and drive operational efficiency initiatives across departments, ensuring resource optimization without compromising program integrity. Partner with the CFO to integrate risk exposure modeling into operational planning and long-term sustainability forecasting. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Operations Management, Healthcare Administration, or a related field required; Master's degree (MBA, MPA, or similar) preferred. 10+ years of progressive operations leadership experience , including 5+ years in a senior leadership role overseeing enterprise or multi-site operations. Proven experience building scalable operational systems, standardizing processes, and leading organizational growth and change. Strong background in strategic planning, operational excellence, enterprise risk management, compliance, and cross-functional leadership. Experience overseeing IT, data analytics, facilities, and organizational infrastructure to support business operations. Demonstrated financial acumen, including budgeting, operational forecasting, and resource planning. Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to influence executive stakeholders and drive accountability. Project management experience, including leading complex, cross-functional initiatives from planning through implementation; PMP certification or equivalent experience is a plus. Experience in a nonprofit, healthcare, human services, or other mission-driven organization is strongly preferred. What We Offer Competitive salary range of $ 135,000 - $155,000 , commensurate with experience Robust medical, dental, and vision insurance. Paid sick time and paid time off. Opportunity to make an impact during a pivotal growth moment serving LGBTQ+ communities, especially Black and Brown trans and gender-expansive people. Align your expertise with your values while supporting affirming, community-rooted services.
