Environmental Attorney

Detroit | Troy | Ann Arbor | Lansing | Grand Rapids Salary: Commensurate with Experience We are working exclusively with a very well-regarded law firm in Michigan who are looking for a talented Environmental Attorney to join their team. This is a genuine opportunity for a mid-level to senior associate or counsel-level attorney who wants to do substantive, high-quality environmental work at a firm that values both legal excellence and business development. You will serve as a core member of the environmental practice, advising a diverse mix of public and private sector clients on the full spectrum of environmental law. That means permitting, compliance counseling, enforcement defense, remediation and complex transactional matters involving environmental liability. You will be expected to take ownership of matters, manage client relationships directly and contribute to the continued growth of the practice. What You Will Be Working On Advising clients on federal and state environmental compliance obligations under CERCLA, RCRA, CWA, CAA, TSCA, FIFRA and Michigan NREPA equivalents Handling transactional environmental work including asset transfers, facility siting, development projects and energy infrastructure (wind, solar, storage, natural gas) Representing clients in administrative proceedings, court hearings, motions practice and discovery Drafting and reviewing memoranda, briefs, contracts, regulatory agreements and substantive policy commentary Researching federal, state and local environmental, land use and administrative law What We Are Looking For 4-6+ years of experience in federal and state environmental and/or land use law Michigan Bar admission (or eligibility by start date) Portable book of business preferred Strong writing skills and demonstrated ability to serve as primary author on complex legal work product Comfort working independently and managing client relationships with minimal supervision Experience with solid and hazardous waste facilities is a plus This firm offers a collaborative environment, meaningful work and a platform to grow both your practice and your career.
