Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry Float Pool position at a short-term acute care hospital in Missouri, requiring at least 2 years of MS/Tele experience and an active MO or compact RN license.

Details

• Short-term acute care hospital setting
• Float pool covering Medical/Surgical, Telemetry, Oncology, Neuro, Renal, and Cardiology units
• Float pool nurses call in to a recorded line up to 1 hour before their scheduled shift to receive their unit assignment; pre-assignment to a specific unit for a portion of the contract is possible and will be communicated in advance
• Patient ratios are 1:5–6 on days and weekends and 1:6 on nights
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (18:45–07:15)
• Every other weekend required, or a minimum of 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule (Saturday and Sunday)
• Holiday rotation required
• No on-call requirements
• Epic EMR (experience required)
• Equipment includes lift devices, ceiling lifts, and bladder scanner (lift device training provided)

Requirements

• Active MO RN license or compact RN license (tied to Missouri or a compact state matching permanent residence) required
• Minimum 2 years of MS/Tele RN experience required — this is a hard stop requirement
• Required certifications: BLS and ACLS
• Required skills: IV insertion and maintenance, telemetry monitoring and interpretation of dysrhythmias
• Preferred certification: NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Preferred skills include: CVA management, feeding tube care, high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC), ABG interpretation, PCA management, total joint replacement care

• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible
• RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO is permitted during the first week of the assignment
• Travelers may remain at this facility for up to 18 months, after which a 3-month break in service is required before returning
• Permanent employees of BJC or Saint Luke's must wait 1 year before working at any BJC facility as a traveler
• Pre-start orientation modules are required and must be completed prior to the start date
• Fit testing is required; candidates must have facial hair that permits proper mask fitting, with no exceptions
