Reports To Deputy Director of Brooklyn Youth Programs Salary $68,000 - $70,000 annually Location Brooklyn: PS 241K at 976 President St, Brooklyn, NY 11225 Schedule School Year: Monday – Friday; 10 am – 6 pm (some evenings/weekends may be required). Summer: 8 am – 4 pm or 10 am – 6 pm Job Summary The Program Director is directly responsible for the successful day-to-day operation of the after‑school program, ensuring that quality services are provided. In addition, the Program Director supervises the program and its staff. Education, Experience and Skill Requirements Bachelor’s Degree required At least three (3) years of experience working in a community center or school-based after‑school program; at least two years in a supervisory capacity Required to obtain a SACC Program Director's (30‑hour) credential Ability to work independently, assess priorities, and take initiative Effective oral, written, and collaborative skills Experience in lesson planning, curriculum development, and implementation of structured programming for middle‑school students Familiarity with program budgeting and fiscal management (a plus) Familiarity with DYCD Connect and database management (a plus) Ability to maintain State Central Registry clearance (SCR) – $25 nonrefundable fee required and fingerprint clearance throughout employment Experience working with students in urban school and/or community‑based settings Must be computer literate Capacity to thrive under pressure while managing multiple tasks and projects Spanish speaking (a plus) Ability to build and maintain a positive working relationship with school administration and personnel Knowledge of the public education system and positive youth development best practices Strong public speaking, writing, and organizational skills Demonstrated knowledge of New York State Learning Standards Desirable knowledge of STEM, Health & Sexuality, Careers & Life Planning, Sports & Adventure, and Academic Enrichment Responsibilities Oversee day-to-day operations of the DYCD COMPASS contract, Holiday Camp, and Summer programming Coordinate outreach, applications, and enrollment processes Ensure the program exceeds an 85% average daily attendance Implement core components: Academic Support and STEM Academic & Creative Arts Enrichment Physical Activity/Healthy Living Parent/Caretaker Involvement Leadership Partner with school administration to align after‑school activities with day‑school learning and vision Seek partnership opportunities to enhance programming Coordinate part‑time staff schedules and program activities; supervise and provide leadership to part‑time staff Liaise primarily with school administration, parents, and community entities Ensure participants are engaged in daily activities and programming Attend regular school meetings, staff meetings, trainings, and workshops as needed Advocate for program needs through community coalition building, feedback surveys, and program assessments Identify and schedule field trips and seek new opportunities for participants Prepare and maintain timelines and action items to support major events and initiatives Collaborate closely with school administration for school‑day support of after‑school programming Maintain a professional and positive working relationship with school administration and personnel Seek partnership opportunities and bring in at least three new partners annually to leverage resources Facilitate live and pre‑recorded activities Use web‑based platforms (Zoom, Google Classroom, etc.) to engage youth Monitor participant engagement and safety during live remote sessions Conduct wellness checks and calls to families Follow remote working plan, policies, and procedures as directed by supervisor Maintain remote/virtual attendance logs and records Ensure remote content is age‑appropriate, clean, and non‑offensive Ensure program goals and objectives are met by deadlines Conduct periodic assessments and evaluations, assisting in curriculum and programmatic refinement (e.g., pre/post surveys, tests) Lead parent orientations and meetings Administrative Duties Ensure quality assurance of data reported to DYCD via the DYCD Connect database platform Ensure attendance tracking and reporting meets contractual requirements for enrollment and attendance Respond to all electronic and phone communications within two business days Ensure compliance with DOH School‑Aged Child Care and DOH Summer Day Camp regulations; conduct quarterly self‑checklist inspections Coordinate and execute all major events and activities with other GSS Program Directors Communicate with school personnel, administration, and DYCD stakeholders; participate in meetings Prepare a monthly calendar of events, programs, meetings, and activities Create a budget plan supporting program needs and ensure timely spending Collaborate on cross‑borough and agency/department‑wide events and strategic planning efforts Ensure adherence to DYCD/DOE social media policies by all staff, participants, and families Commit to Grand Street for two years if awarded a funded personal development or education grant Facility Management Maintain and follow up with custodian to ensure timely response to facility issues Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Supervisor/CPO
