Must-Have: Proficiency in administering medications, performing various medical procedures such as wound care and IV therapy, and utilizing medical equipment and technology. Strong assessment skills, critical thinking abilities, and the capacity to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment. Effective, clear, and respectful communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to actively listen and engage with others.

Description: The RN implements professional nursing practice centered on the patient as a whole person. The RN creates a caring environment focused on healing and wellness. Nursing practices are based on evidence, current research, hospital policies and procedures, regulatory standards, and professional guidelines. Clinical decision-making incorporates all phases of the nursing process along with critical thinking and creativity. Nursing excellence is promoted through cooperative relationships among nursing staff and across other disciplines. Coordinates, ensures, and provides direct patient care activities. This involves nursing rounds, assessments, treatments, and facilitating admission, transfer, and discharge activities. The RN provides patient and family-centered education and coordinates individualized treatment planning. Performs and documents comprehensive assessments consistent with RN scope of practice. Considers the patient's culture, age, and developmental level during assessments. Identifies patient risk factors and collects necessary health information. Develops a problem list and prioritizes patient needs based on input from the inter-professional team. Determines desired outcomes in coordination with the patient and family. Fully implements patient care therapies and procedures considering established policies and the patient's needs. Explains procedures and treatments to patients and family members. Initiates action to alleviate patient stress and discomfort. Recognizes, responds to, and communicates changes in patient conditions appropriately. Conducts ongoing assessments and documents responses to therapies in accordance with hospital policy. Sets priorities for the care of multiple patients and organizes workload effectively. Delegates tasks appropriately and oversees team members in patient care activities. Monitors the accuracy and completeness of delegated patient care provided by other team members. Identifies and addresses educational needs of patients related to prioritized problems. Facilitates the patient discharge process by executing discharge orders timely and coordinating with Case Management as needed. Actively participates in unit-based activities in support of organizational values and priorities. Promotes a positive group dynamic and healing environment through words and actions. Assures nursing excellence in accordance with accepted standards and evidence-based practices. Actively participates in department and unit quality improvement activities and core measures. Uses a holistic perspective regarding patient care.
