Estimator

Here at Central Civil, we are seeking an experienced Estimator to support the preconstruction and estimating process from initial pursuit through bid submission. This role will be responsible for developing accurate project estimates, performing quantity takeoffs, managing subcontractor and vendor pricing, and collaborating with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to develop competitive and complete bids. Key Responsibilities Prepare estimates, bids, budgets, quantity takeoffs, and cost evaluations for civil construction projects. Review plans, specifications, scopes, and contract documents to develop accurate and competitive estimates. Solicit, evaluate, and compare subcontractor and supplier pricing and scopes. Develop detailed quantity takeoffs and cost breakdowns while ensuring estimates are accurate and complete. Build and maintain professional relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, clients, architects, engineers, and internal teams. Identify project risks, value-engineering opportunities, and potential cost-saving alternatives. Support the bid process, including bid tracking, subcontractor and supplier solicitations, scope reviews, clarifications, and final proposal preparation. Collaborate with project management and operations teams on constructability, schedules, budgets, and project requirements. Assist with preconstruction activities and provide estimating support during project development. Maintain estimating databases, historical cost information, and current market pricing. Ensure bids and proposals are accurate, professional, and submitted on time. Assist with multiple estimates and projects while maintaining strong attention to detail and meeting established deadlines. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related field preferred. 3+ years of construction estimating experience, preferably in civil construction. Experience preparing competitive bids for public and/or private-sector projects. Knowledge of subcontractor and supplier pricing, construction costs, and civil construction methods. Strong communication, organization, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Strong proficiency with Hard Dollar or equivalent estimating software, AGTEK, Microsoft Excel, Word, and Adobe Acrobat. Experience with Bluebeam, Primavera P6, BidExpress, BidSync, or HCSS is preferred. Ability to manage multiple estimates, meet deadlines, and work independently with strong attention to detail. Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, scopes of work, and contract documents.
