Overview Purpose Statement/Position Summary: The Clinical Laboratory Technician II under direct supervision of an unlicensed or licensed CLS, MLT, or section manager, functions as an unlicensed or licensed staff member in a licensed clinical laboratory performing duties approved by California business code 1269, CLIA, and other regulatory agencies. Duties and responsibilities include patient preparation, specimen preparation, client service activities, preparation and management of reagents and supplies, and performing procedures and QC functions approved by regulatory agencies. Performs all job duties with sensitivity and attention to the age and developmental issue of the patient population(s) being served. May be asked to take direction from a Lead or Senior level position. Whole blood and platelet collections - supplying CHLA patients with required blood products. Staff register, screen, and draw volunteer donors for whole blood and platelets. Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience: Required: 1+ years of experience working for a large laboratory or academic institution required. 3+ years of experience in phlebotomy for Blood Drives. Experience in medical terminology sufficient to understand and discuss technical aspects of pathology and laboratory medicine. Preferred: Blood Donor Experience Education/Licensure/Certifications: Required: High school graduate or equivalent required. Valid California Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) Certificate verifiable by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) when duties include phlebotomy. Reliable transportation will be needed for Blood Drives Preferred: AA degree preferred Schedule (pending intake) Pay Scale Information $52,728.00-$70,304.00 CHLA values the contribution each Team Member brings to our organization. Final determination of a successful candidate’s starting pay will vary based on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, education and experience within the job or the industry. The pay scale listed for this position is generally for candidates who meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed on this specific job description. Additional pay may be determined for those candidates who exceed these specified qualifications and requirements.
