Responsibilities Assist the Court in assessing and collecting fees, fines, and costs to enforce court orders and increase collection rates. Issue and distribute warrants, provide high‑volume customer service, and maintain accurate case files. Collect past‑due accounts and place delinquent cases into collections with F.A.R.E. Respond to public inquiries regarding fines, fees, payments, due dates, warrants, suspensions, and required compliance. Answer telephone calls, greet the public, provide filing information, accept payments, issue receipts, reschedule court dates, and address general inquiries. Receive and process court payments, issue receipts, reschedule due dates, update address and phone information, and process bonds into appropriate folders while entering payment data into the computer system. Receive and examine legal documents for sufficiency, completeness, conformity, jurisdiction and/or validity prior to acceptance for action; certify or file documents, open case files in the court system, prepare document files, search for missing files, copy requested materials, and follow procedures for updating, scanning, or purging files. Enter and track data in the automated case‑management system and query the automated docket to provide case information. Assist the public in person or by phone with court forms, filing procedures, and other technical/legal/judicial matters; receive and complete orders for services/materials, evaluate needs, direct individuals or calls to appropriate offices, locate material/information, and explain fees and fines. Respond to inquiries from the public, attorneys, case witnesses, and law‑enforcement representatives; gather information by researching case status, documents, and relevant rules/procedures; interpret and explain legal documents and court procedure; make copies of files and requests in accordance with departmental policy. Compute, classify, and post fees/fines for criminal, traffic, and civil cases; issue receipts; post and reconcile daily account records. Analyze, docket, index, and process legal documents, judgments, minute entries; prepare legal documentation pursuant to court orders, rules, and statutes. Issue warrants and sanctions to ensure efficient case flow; compose correspondence to defendants, law enforcement, attorneys, and other entities. Use office equipment such as copiers, cash registers, scanners, and computers; maintain knowledge of Word, Excel, and related software. Compose written documents, prepare routine reports, and produce correspondence related to official court actions. Perform other duties as assigned.
