People & Culture Business Partner – Pharma Technical Operations Genentech, a member of the Roche group, is dedicated to pursuing groundbreaking science to discover and develop medicines for people with serious and life‑threatening diseases. Pharma Technical Operations (PT) manufactures and delivers Roche’s ground‑breaking therapies to more than 120million patients worldwide, coordinating all production aspects across 9 sites. Pharma Technical Development (PTD) collaborates across Research & Development to efficiently transform scientific ideas into products, delivering the clinical pipeline from lab to quality products for patients enrolled in clinical studies worldwide. Opportunity The People & Culture (P&C) Business Partner will be the strategic partner to three PTD Global Vice Presidents leading the Biologics Clinical Supply Network, Analytical Development and QC, and PTD Data & Digital Solutions Development. This role collaborates closely with other P&C Business Partners and client PTD Leadership teams to understand long‑term business needs and strategic P&C priorities, translating business strategy into P&C strategies and driving implementation. Responsibilities Align P&C strategy, goals, and objectives with overall business strategies, translating P&C strategies to drive key business results. Provide guidance on talent management, workforce strategies, organization design, reward and recognition to develop high‑quality solutions. Maintain broad‑based knowledge of multiple leadership areas across the organization, diagnosing topics with varied complexity. Recommend business practice/work process improvements to identify opportunities for leveraging human capital. Maintain knowledge of the external environment and peer benchmarks to inform strategy and drive business decisions. Act as a strategic sparring partner and coach for fostering leadership culture in line with the Roche leadership framework. Translate business vision, mission, and strategy into projects and initiatives with milestones, leading or participating in work‑product teams. Diagnose P&C needs and identify interventions addressing retention, change leadership, employee engagement, and leadership development. Drive and implement change, influencing business leaders and P&C professionals to achieve outcomes. Embodies a customer‑excellence mindset and results orientation. Influence, mentor, and provide leadership to networks and work teams in partnership with Advisory Business Partners. Gather and analyze internal and external data to make evidence‑based decisions, sharing insights with leaders. Diagnose root causes of workplace issues, disruptive team dynamics, and ineffective organizational setups, initiating interventions in collaboration with stakeholders. Qualifications 12+ years of broad and progressive HR business partner experience, with emphasis on biotech/pharma commercial or a high‑tech background. Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources (or related field) preferred, and/or equivalent work experience; an advanced degree preferred. Strong leadership skills, with or without direct reports, and potential to take on broader P&C enterprise roles. Enterprise mindset and systems thinking, proven ability to work effectively across multiple leadership areas, global teams, and networks. Proven ability to diagnose mid‑term P&C needs and shape and lead large‑scale global initiatives. Passion for building diverse and inclusive work cultures that foster psychological safety and belonging. Strong communication skills (written and verbal) to address all organizational levels. Active commitment to self‑development and building future skills and capabilities. Location & Compensation This position is based at the South San Francisco site. Relocation benefits are not available. The expected salary range for California is $160,800 to $298,600, plus a discretionary annual bonus and benefits available as per company policy.
