Accounting Manager

SHR Talent is partnering with a growing privately held real estate investment group that is seeking an Accounting Manager to join its team in Cortland, OH. This organization owns and operates a portfolio of commercial retail properties and offers the opportunity to work closely with ownership in a highly visible role.

This position will oversee accounting operations across a portfolio of commercial real estate assets while helping build scalable financial processes as the company continues to grow. The role offers a strong opportunity for someone who is ready to step into a leadership role and grow over time.
The ideal candidate will have experience in property management or real estate accounting and be comfortable working in a hands-on, entrepreneurial environment.
Responsibilities:
- Manage accounting for a portfolio of commercial real estate properties
- Oversee monthly close, financial reporting, and balance sheet reconciliations
- Maintain general ledger and ensure accuracy of financial records
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis across the portfolio
- Coordinate with third-party partners, property managers, and external accountants
- Provide high-level oversight of financial activity related to additional operating entities
- Assist in implementing process improvements and scalable accounting procedures
- Support ownership with financial insights and reporting
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, xhyhwjd or related field
- 5+ years of accounting experience
- Experience within commercial real estate or property management accounting preferred
- Familiarity with property accounting systems such as Yardi is a plus
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting
- Ability to operate in a hands-on, fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work closely with ownership and operate with a high level of trust
