Surgical / Operating Room Tech

Location: Syracuse, NY 13215
Pay Rate: $46–$49/hour
Duration: 14 Weeks
Shift: Evening Shift
Hours: 40 Hours per Week

Shift Schedule

• 11:00 AM – 7:30 PM

• 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM

• 11:00 AM – 11:30 PM

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Surgical / Operating Room Technician to join a busy Adult Operating Room team in Syracuse, NY. The ideal candidate will have recent experience in a Level I or Level II Trauma Center or large teaching hospital and be comfortable working in a fast-paced surgical environment.

Candidates must possess strong scrub experience and be proficient in supporting a variety of surgical specialties while maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and sterile technique.

Responsibilities

• Prepare operating rooms with appropriate surgical instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies

• Maintain sterile technique throughout surgical procedures

• Assist surgeons and operating room staff during surgical cases

• Anticipate surgeon needs and provide instruments and supplies efficiently

• Perform surgical counts according to facility policies and procedures

• Ensure proper handling, cleaning, and sterilization of surgical instruments

• Support patient safety initiatives and infection prevention standards

• Collaborate effectively with surgeons, nurses, anesthesiologists, and surgical team members

• Maintain accurate documentation and compliance with hospital protocols

Requirements

• Certified Surgical Technologist (Required)

• Minimum 3 years of recent Operating Room experience within the last 4 years

• Experience in a Level I or Level II Trauma Center or comparable teaching hospital

• Strong Scrub Tech experience required

• OB Scrub experience required

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Required Surgical Experience

Candidates should have recent experience scrubbing and assisting in:

• Trauma Surgery

• Orthopedic Surgery

• General Surgery

• ENT (Ear, Nose & Throat) Procedures

• Vascular Surgery

• Gynecological (GYN) Procedures

• Neurosurgery

• Bariatric Surgery

• Genitourinary (GU) Procedures
