Job Description - Instructional Specialist- Region I (205 Days) (RTP20260326-034) Job Description Instructional Specialist- Region I (205 Days) - ( RTP20260326-034 ) Description Support the implementation of IEP for Special Education students who are receiving services on a traditional school campus without a Special Education teacher allocation as assigned by Special Services. Participate in committees and teams to monitor each campus/help ensure compliance with state, federal, and district guidelines. Assist central and campus-based staff with using various types of data to impact instruction and assessments. Work collaboratively with all stakeholders to develop and provide high quality programming and training based on campus needs. Provide and monitor best practices for students receiving special education services. Provide curriculum and instructional support to special education and general education teachers. Implement a standard research-based coaching and feedback model of support to assist teachers with instructional growth; Ensure the implementation of program standards and best practices by conducting classroom observations and providing formative feedback. Schedule/conduct consultations/observations of students and special education staff in the educational setting to ensure implementation of IEPs, and provide written, formative feedback for continued improvement; Written documentation of observations/recommendations must be maintained in a centralized, easily accessible location for the Centralized Unit Supervisor's review. Create and follow up with campus action plans addressing campus needs; communicate feedback and proposed resolutions with the Centralized Unit Supervisor in a timely manner. Attend critical Admission, Review, and Dismissal Committee meetings and provide coaching and feedback to campus administrators on opportunities for growth to include support recommendations provided by Special Services. Respond to Campus Requests for Assistance in a timely manner. May provide direct support to students in high-needs classrooms. Assist teachers with staff schedules and setting up individual student schedules. Deliver materials (visuals - schedule cards, visual positive behavior supports, classroom labels, communication cards, first/then), consumable materials (Velcro, laminating pouches, gloves, wipes, Wexcide, Brigance booklets, etc.), data notebooks, portfolios, communication notebooks, work system materials, and Brigance books Attend professional development in special education, mentoring and leadership to remain up-to-date on new research on how children learn, emerging technology tools for the classroom, and new curriculum resources. Provides continuous support to teachers and teacher assistants in the development of their profession by reviewing, analyzing, and providing effective feedback of their work in the learning environment. Assist the Centralized Unit Supervisor in conducting periodic internal audits of campus level special education data, records, and internal controls and make recommendations on preventive and corrective actions. Assist the Centralized Unit Supervisor in facilitating the activities related to preparing for, or participating in, Texas Education Agency complaints, mediations, and due process hearing requests as they relate to students receiving special services within your assigned network to include mandated record requests, staffings, resolution sessions, formal mediations, and/or due process hearings. Assist in the management of complex cases in cooperation with administrative staff. Maintain accurate records, organizational skills and professional conduct to achieve the goals of the position. Perform all other duties and tasks as assigned. All federally funded incumbents of this position must comply with time and effort reporting requirements through personnel activity reports or periodic certification, as appropriate. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university; Valid Texas teacher's certification with required endorsements or required training for subject and level assigned Minimum five years of successful teaching in a public or private school setting Ability to work effectively with community organizations, schools, residential facilities, governmental agencies, parents, students, and others in a pluralistic setting Work with detailed information/data and maintain confidentiality Demonstrated computer literacy in special education program applications. Demonstrated ability to align special education instructional standards with TEKS. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in written and oral format. Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum trends, innovative programs and best practices for secondary programs. Demonstrated knowledge of structured teaching methodology and techniques.
