Civil Project Manager

Location Manassas, VA Responsibilities Leadership and Direction Receive broad guidance from senior-level management relating to overall key objectives, critical issues, new concepts, policy matters, and general parameters for execution. Manage people and processes to ensure effective execution. Review work produced by staff for quality assurance. Operational and Company Level Assist with marketing the firm’s capabilities to establish new clients and strengthen relationships with existing clients. Coordinate with internal departments to meet project requirements. Drive profitability and growth of projects. Project Execution Perform project development for complex projects, including finalizing scope, preparing bid summaries, budgets, and cost estimates. Perform day‑to‑day project management on multiple projects to meet time and budget milestones. Prepare and direct preparation of designs, specifications, plans, estimates, and reports. Review job cost sheets and prepare monthly billings; ensure projects stay within budget. Monitor work‑in‑process, billings, and outstanding accounts receivable collection efforts. Maintain healthy client relationships and possess operational insight to drive projects and execute deliverables. Resolve all project questions, including technical requirements, completion requirements, and billing inquiries. Assist with marketing presentations and attend marketing meetings. Assist team leader in securing repeat business from existing clients and identifying new clients. Supervise the work of project personnel to ensure professional standards. Liaise with clients, agencies, subcontractors, and design teams on projects. Review project changes, contract alterations, and additional work requests that affect staffing or budget. Provide technical assistance in resolving design problems, including field investigations, detailed design work, and coordination of design aspects. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related discipline. Registered Professional (preferred). Eight or more years of civil engineering experience, including a minimum of three years of assistant project management experience. Land development engineering experience, including residential and commercial developments. Thorough understanding of municipal codes and regulations. Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil3D, AES, CIVILD, WSPGW, PCSWMM, StormCAD, HEC‑HMS, HEC‑RAS (preferred). Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Projects). Experience with Storm Drain Modeling and Rational Method Hydrologic Calculations. Experience with Open Channel & Detention Basin Modeling and Design. Experience with HEC‑RAS modeling, CLOMR/LOMR applications and processing. Experience researching zoning, development standards, review processes, compliance matters, regulations and standards. Ability to write reports, prepare narratives, development applications, submittal documents and response letters.
