About the Department/Program The Department of Public Health in the College of Health Sciences at the University of Missouri offers a Bachelor of Public Health (BPH) and a Master of Public Health (MPH) program. The MPH program has two emphasis areas: Health Promotion and Policy, and Veterinary Public Health. The BPH is offered in person, while the MPH is offered in-person and online. The Department is home to the Center for Health Policy and Missouri Cancer Registry. Faculty conduct research in a variety of areas including mental health, vector biology, sleep health, cancer surveillance, community engagement, and more. Position Overview An NTT-Teaching faculty member's primary responsibility is teaching. This includes demonstrating excellence in teaching and mentoring, fostering student success, and developing innovative, evidence-based curricular approaches that prepare students for today's workforce. NTT-Teaching faculty serve as role models for students and contribute to the continuous improvement of educational programs. Over time, they are expected to establish a regional and national reputation in teaching innovation, curriculum development, and/or the scholarship of teaching and learning. NTT-Teaching faculty are also expected to engage in meaningful service that advances the profession, supports the mission and operations of the department, school, and university, and contributes to the broader community. The candidate for this position is also being considered for an administrative appointment, as described below. Key Responsibilities Following campus, college, and departmental policies, generally 12 month NTT-Teaching faculty teach 8 courses per year (80% time) with service (20% time) to the department, college, campus, and profession. Assigned courses may be undergraduate or graduate, in person or online. Faculty are expected to advise students as assigned. Faculty are expected to stay up to date and in compliance with teaching credentials and policies, and implement best practices in their courses. The candidate is also being considered for the Director of Curriculum position, which is an important departmental administrative title with responsibilities that include serving as the Director of Graduate Studies (overseeing the graduate programs), Director of Undergraduate Studies (overseeing the undergraduate programs), and ensuring curriculum- and student-related accreditation standards are maintained at all times. Daily tasks might include curriculum program planning and implementation, educating faculty, ensuring compliance, quality improvement, scheduling, recruitment, report writing, tracking and monitoring data, developing marketing and other materials, and promoting student satisfaction and a quality curriculum. The role requires strong data literacy and attention to detail. A percentage of a normal teaching load will be reduced to accommodate the administrative responsibilities. This position will work closely with department staff and the Department Chair. This position is expected to generally work from the office. Qualifications The minimum qualifications for this position: PhD or equivalent degree (e.g., EdD, DrPH) in public health or related field (e.g., psychology, sociology, educational psychology). Experience teaching in both graduate and undergraduate courses Experience in quantitative and qualitative methods and evaluation Experience writing technical reports Experience leading initiatives Supervisory experience Anticipated Hiring Range Salary will be commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the applicant.
