Program Manager, Strategic Project Development (Hybrid Schedule)

This includes, but is not limited to, direct company sponsorship, listing Eversource as the employer of record on immigration documents, or any work authorization that requires company involvement or documentation (e.g., H-1B, OPT, STEM OPT, CPT, TN, J-1, O-1, etc.).Our Team:Eversource is looking for a Program Manager, Strategic Project Development located out of the Westwood, MA office.The Program Manager, Strategic Project Development, contributes to the advancement of Major and Strategic Projects within the Company’s Massachusetts Electric Sector Modernization Plan (ESMP) throughout Transmission by implementing cross-functional leadership throughout the Company and executing on the Capital Plan while adhering to core business synergies.The role will include the implementation of comprehensive strategies for advancing early-stage development for a portfolio of strategic transmission and substation projects, including internal organization and analytics, and support for external stakeholder relationship building in collaboration with other teams to support the Company’s role as the leading provider of Transmission.The Program Manager role will be expected to work collaboratively and coordinate with all relevant departments within the Company including System Planning, Engineering, Siting, Real Estate, Engagement and Equity, Regulatory, Procurement, Legal, Scheduling, and later-stage Project Management. This role reports to the Manager of Strategic Project Development and will also work closely with the Director of Strategic Project Development to ensure alignment and cooperative communication across Strategic Project execution.Essential Functions:Responsible for all aspects of a portfolio of strategic ESMP transmission and substation projects from early-stage development to hand off to Project Management Organization (prior to traditional project lifecycle)Oversee a cross-functional project team including, System Planning, Engineering, Siting, Real Estate, Legal, Project Management, Engagement, Regulatory Affairs, Environmental Affairs, and other internal stakeholders to establish and organize ongoing development planEnsures that all strategic solutions are vetted in a manner consistent with the Company’s safety and procurement policies and programsWorks with the appropriate departments to develop schedules and budget of ESMP strategic projects in early-stage development and is responsible for the implementation, prior to executionSupports development and documentation of Company Policies related to development and execution of strategic transmission projects addressing items such as feasibility, planning, siting, permitting, construction, etc.Focus on both internal and external collaborationMaintains familiarity with current and upcoming Policies and Programs that could facilitate Transmission DevelopmentWorks with the Manager/Director to develop metrics by which to evaluate the success of transmission projects and continues to track project-level and ESMP program progress; and collaborates with other Program Managers and Senior Program Managers within Strategic Project Development team when neededFacilitate discussions with key stakeholders to assure alignment and key information exchange to advance Strategic Transmission ProjectsAssists with representing Eversource Transmission on committees, groups, associations, or other efforts consistent with Strategic ProjectsAssists with representing Eversource Transmission at public meetings, regulatory hearings, town hall meetings, and any special meetings that may occurEnsures Manager and Director of Strategic Project Development are briefed regularly on the status of job responsibilities for the development of strategic projects and status of action itemsTechnical Knowledge/SkillsProject management experience requiredAbility to develop and present reports within the organizationStrong computer and analytical skillsAbility to work in a fast-paced environment across multiple subject matters, such as permitting, engineering, real estate, interconnection, finance, community engagementUnderstanding of onshore development of electric infrastructure projects, such as solar or windAbility to take in multidisciplinary pieces of early-stage project development and make decisions in a timely mannerAbility to communicate complex technical concepts to a variety of audiences internally and externallyDemonstrated interest in ongoing learning and process improvementInterest in progressing the State’s electrification efforts in advancement of Massachusetts’ clean energy and climate goalsEducation:Bachelor’s degree in a technical (i.e., engineering, environmental, communication, renewable energy ), business discipline, related degree or equivalent experience will be consideredMasters, law, or other advanced qualifications desirableExperience:Minimum of five (5) years of related experienceExperience developing competitive infrastructure projects and knowledge of electric transmission and distribution systems preferredLicenses & Certifications:Valid Driver’s license is requiredWorking Conditions:Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as requiredEversource supports work-life balance by offering hybrid schedules for certain roles. Eligibility is based on job responsibilities, operational needs, nature of work and team dynamics. Current guidelines require employees to work at least three days in the office, including Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with the third day set by the employee and supervisor based on department needs. These guidelines apply to roles approved for remote work and are subject to change, based on managerial discretion and work performance.
