VP/Director of Private Capital, Business Development

CriticalPoint is seeking an experienced and highly motivated investment banking professional to join its Private Capital/Investment Business Development team. This position may be filled at the Vice President, Senior Vice President, Assistant Director, or Director level based on the successful candidate's experience, qualifications, and demonstrated business development track record. The role is responsible for originating and advancing actionable investment and advisory opportunities through proactive relationship management across the corporate and financial intermediary ecosystem. The position sits at the intersection of sponsor coverage, business development, and strategic client engagement, serving as a key external representative of the firm. The successful candidate will cultivate and expand relationships with corporate executives, investment bankers, commercial lenders, and other market participants to drive transaction activity across CriticalPoint’s platform. This role requires a commercially driven professional with strong market judgment, exceptional relationship management skills, and the ability to operate effectively in a highly entrepreneurial and fast‑paced environment. Significant client interaction and travel are expected. Job Responsibilities Develop and maintain senior‑level relationships with corporate development executives, investment bankers, founders, and other key deal referral sources Originate and identify actionable investment opportunities aligned with CriticalPoint’s strategic focus areas of corporate divestitures and special situations Serve as a senior external ambassador for the firm, articulating CriticalPoint’s investment thesis, capabilities, sector expertise, and transaction experience Drive sponsor coverage initiatives and maintain consistent engagement with key market participants to enhance pipeline visibility and market positioning Coordinate closely with investment banking, transaction, and investment professionals to evaluate opportunities and advance active mandates and deal processes Lead proactive business development efforts including targeted outreach campaigns, market mapping, conference participation, and relationship expansion initiatives Maintain oversight of transaction pipeline activity, including platform acquisitions, add‑on opportunities, and strategic advisory engagements Identify cross‑selling opportunities across CriticalPoint’s multiple business lines and facilitate internal collaboration to maximize client impact Monitor market trends, competitive dynamics, and sector activity to identify emerging opportunities and strengthen strategic positioning Represent the firm at industry conferences, client meetings, networking events, and other external engagements Qualifications 7+ years of relevant experience in private capital markets, investment banking, sponsor coverage, business development, institutional sales, or related client‑facing financial services roles Demonstrated track record of developing and managing senior‑level client and intermediary relationships within the private equity and M&A ecosystem Strong understanding of M&A processes, private capital markets, transaction structures, valuation methodologies, and financial metrics Proven ability to independently originate business opportunities and contribute meaningfully to transaction sourcing efforts Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills with strong executive presence Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple active relationships and priorities simultaneously Entrepreneurial mindset with strong commercial instincts, professionalism, and accountability Ability to work collaboratively across internal teams while operating autonomously in external‑facing situations Proficiency with CRM systems, Excel, PowerPoint, and pipeline management tools Willingness to travel regularly for client meetings, conferences, and business development initiatives Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree and/or relevant financial certifications are a plus Strong preference for local Los Angeles applicants to work in the El Segundo, CA office #J-18808-Ljbffr CriticalPoint
