Position Overview:
The Director, Collective Impact & Partnerships provides strategic leadership for Black Men Teach's Collective Impact & Partnerships function within the Programs Division. This leader is responsible for developing and executing the function's annual partnership and collective impact strategy, cultivating high-impact relationships, expanding educator pathways, and advancing collaborative initiatives that support Black Men Teach's mission to recruit, prepare, place, and retain Black male educators.
Reporting to the Managing Director of Programs, the Director leads Black Men Teach's collective impact and partnership efforts by cultivating strategic relationships, overseeing coalition implementation, driving partnership development, and strengthening K–12 school, higher education, and community partnerships. The Director is accountable for advancing recruitment strategy, expanding educator pathways, and ensuring the function delivers measurable outcomes aligned with organizational goals and strategic priorities.
The ideal candidate is a strategic relationship builder, systems thinker, and collaborative leader who thrives in complex environments, influences without formal authority, and is passionate about strengthening educational ecosystems that create lasting opportunities for Black male educators.
Core Responsibilities:
- Strategic Partnership Development (15%)
- Serve as a bridge between Black Men Teach and K–12 school districts, charter school organizations, select higher education institutions, and community partners by developing, cultivating, and sustaining strategic relationships that strengthen educator pathways, expand recruitment opportunities, and advance the organization's mission.
- Serve as a key relationship leader for strategic partnerships supporting educator pathway development. Coordinates closely with executive leadership on partnerships requiring senior-level engagement.
- Co-develop partnership agreements, Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs), and collaborative initiatives that advance Black Men Teach's strategic priorities. Serves in a consultative (C) role during agreement development and a responsible (R) role in ensuring fidelity to agreed-upon benchmarks, consistent with the function’s RACI framework.
- Evaluate emerging partnership opportunities and recommend strategic investments that strengthen organizational sustainability and community impact.
- Contribute, alongside the broader team, to strengthen Black Men Teach's visibility, credibility, and influence throughout Minnesota's education ecosystem.
- Collective Impact Leadership (50%)
- Co-develop, in partnership with coalition members, and help execute the function’s annual Collective Impact strategy that advances educator pathways and organizational priorities.
- Facilitate the implementation and coordination of collective impact initiatives across school districts, higher education institutions, nonprofit organizations, employers, and community partners.
- Facilitate coalition meetings, workgroups, and collaborative planning sessions that strengthen alignment, accountability, and shared ownership.
- Facilitate the process of establishing annual coalition priorities, implementation plans, timelines, and measurable outcomes.
- Build systems that strengthen collaboration, trust, transparency, and long-term partner engagement.
- Evaluate coalition effectiveness and recommend improvements that increase organizational and community impact.
- Hold coalition partners accountable to shared commitments, implementation milestones, and measurable outcomes.
- Recruitment Strategy & Pipeline Development (15%)
- Develop and execute partnership-driven recruitment strategies that strengthen Black Men Teach's educator pipeline.
- Supervise the Recruitment Manager and Apprenticeship Navigator by establishing goals, monitoring performance, and supporting professional growth.
- Partner with the Director of Secondary Programs & Educator Pathways and the Director of Postsecondary Success to ensure seamless transitions across the educator pipeline.
- Identify emerging recruitment markets and partnership opportunities that expand participation in Black Men Teach programs.
- Monitor recruitment performance, evaluate trends, and implement continuous improvements that strengthen pipeline outcomes.
- Support regional expansion through strategic partnerships and collaborative community engagement.
- Functional Leadership & Management (15%)
- Lead the Collective Impact & Partnerships function by establishing annual priorities, functional goals, and performance expectations.
- Develop and execute the function's annual operating plan in alignment with the Programs Division and Black Men Teach's strategic priorities.
- Manage the function's budget, resources, partnerships, and personnel to maximize organizational impact and ensure responsible stewardship.
- Supervise, coach, develop, and evaluate direct reports through performance management, professional development, and succession planning.
- Foster a collaborative, innovative, and high-performing culture grounded in accountability, equity, and continuous improvement.
- Monitor functional performance through key performance indicators, dashboards, and measurable outcomes.
- Cross-Functional Leadership & Organizational Collaboration (10%)
- Partner closely with the Managing Director of Programs to align the Collective Impact & Partnerships function with the strategic priorities of the Programs Division.
- Collaborate with Secondary Programs & Educator Pathways, Postsecondary Success, Advancement, Teaching & Learning, Finance, and Operations to advance organizational goals.
- Contribute to annual planning, budgeting, grant implementation, and cross-functional organizational initiatives.
- Provide strategic recommendations regarding partnership development, coalition effectiveness, recruitment strategy, and ecosystem opportunities.
- Champion Black Men Teach's mission, values, and commitment to educational equity in every partnership, initiative, and organizational interaction.
- Serve as a collaborative leader who strengthens organizational alignment, partnership excellence, and measurable community impact.
- Data, Accountability & Continuous Improvement (5%)
- Monitor partnership, coalition, and recruitment performance using organizational dashboards, reports, and key performance indicators.
- Collaborate with the Senior Director of Impact & Evaluation to identify, analyze, and communicate trends that strengthen partnership effectiveness and collective impact outcomes.
- Use data and partner feedback to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and strengthen functional performance.
- Provide timely updates, partnership reports, and implementation progress to organizational leadership and external stakeholders.
- Ensure accurate documentation of partnership activities, coalition outcomes, and organizational commitments.
Qualifications:
- Required
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Public Administration, Nonprofit Leadership, Business, Community Development, Organizational Leadership, or a related field.
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressive leadership experience in partnership development, nonprofit leadership, education, workforce development, or community engagement.
- Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience leading staff or cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated experience developing and managing strategic partnerships.
- Experience leading collaborative initiatives involving multiple organizations or stakeholders.
- Strong project management and organizational leadership skills.
- Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
- Experience using data to inform strategy and decision-making.
- Commitment to educational equity and advancing Black male educators.
- Preferred
- Master's degree in Education, Higher Education, Public Administration, Organizational Leadership, Nonprofit Management, or a related field.
- Experience working within collective impact initiatives or cross-sector partnerships.
- Knowledge of Minnesota's educational landscape.
- Grant implementation or funder relationship experience.
- Experience working with historically underserved communities.

- The candidate is expected to attend conferences, meetings and training sessions both virtually and in-person.
Work Environment
- The standard work schedule is Monday through Friday. To support collaboration, community building, and teamwork, Black Men Teach requires staff to work on-site three days per week, Tuesday through Thursday. Mondays and Fridays are designated as remote workdays.
- This position operates in a collaborative, fast-paced hybrid work environment requiring frequent interaction with colleagues, partners, schools, and community stakeholders. The role requires flexibility, effective prioritization, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary range: $82,000 – $90,000. Final salary is determined by BMT based on years of experience, educational background, and level of expertise. Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience.
