Summary

This position provides day-to-day staff, logistical, and administrative assistance to the APRN/PA/RN for the general clinic. This position will triage patients and coordinate scheduling with the office clerks; screens and refers phone calls; and communicates and interacts with patients; provides clerical, word processing, and staff support to the clinic. This position reports to the Charge Nurse and/or his/her designee.

Assist in providing health care services

• Show patients to examination rooms and prepare them for other medical staff; record medical history, vital signs, interview to obtain information, take height & weight, etc. Accurately enter all information on charts/logbooks/appropriate software.
• Explain treatment procedures and APRN/PA/RN instructions to patients.
• Comply with all safety, infection control, and HIPAA policies and procedures.
• Provide and/or assist in the provision of all other health services as required

20%

Complete additional clerical and support functions

• Process client charts, assist with registration, assure all necessary forms are in charts, and prepare encounters for administrative staff.
• Stock & clean patient rooms, clean & sterilize instruments, and dispose of contaminated supplies.
• Tracks patient reports/results; maintain confidentiality in all areas of patient contact.
• Contact medical facilities or departments to schedule patients for tests and/or admission.
• Perform general office duties such as answering telephones, computer data entry, checking medical records for completeness of data, and relay telephone messages to staff personnel.
• Conduct inventory and order lab and office supplies/equipment.
• Participate in staff meetings and go to offsite events as required.

Additional duties may be assigned as business needs require.

Requirements

• Excellent verbal and written English language skills.
• Bi-lingual preferred
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Proficient in basic computer systems and software (e.g. email, timekeeping software, work order inputs)
• Proficient in basic mathematical functions
• Ability to maintain accurate records of services provided.
• Ability to make decisions independently and use tact and good judgement in dealing with staff and the public.
• Ability to properly use various nursing tools/equipment.
• Knowledge of health record-keeping procedures.
• Knowledge of the methods, principles, techniques and practices of public health nursing, and knowledge of public health nursing skills and practices in clinic program areas.
• Knowledge of routine vital sign collection.
• Knowledge of general clinical/clerical procedures.
• Knowledge of patient care and education measures
• Valid Driver's license
• CPR and First Aid certifications prior to or upon hire.
• CNA/CMA; prior to hire
• Ability to obtain Defensive Driving certification
• Occasional overtime
• Occasional travel
• Regular and reliable attendance onsite at work location
