Litigation Attorney - Civil and Family Law

About The Job Our client is a small civil litigation law firm of approximately 10 people seeking an Associate Attorney to assist with its family and civil litigation practice. Our client offers a flexible work schedule and values work-life balance without a client billable-hour minimum. Practice Areas On the family law side, Our client currently handles: Custody, Visitation, Support, Protective orders, Divorce cases in JDR and Circuit Court, as appropriate On the civil litigation side, Our client currently handles: Business litigation, Consumer protection, Defamation, Landlord/tenant matters, Estate planning, General contract and civil litigation disputes This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney who already possesses baseline experience in family law and/or civil litigation and is looking for an opportunity to have greater control over litigation strategy and client relationships. The position requires at least 3 years of post-law-school experience, although the role may be scaled up for an individual with significantly more experience. Ideal Candidate Qualifications Ability to litigate basic family and/or civil law matters from start to finish, with actual courtroom experience in Virginia state courts. Ability to draft necessary court documents related to family and/or civil matters, conduct appropriate discovery, assist clients in weighing settlement options, and litigate trials. Strong research, writing, and analytical skills. A commitment to providing high-quality legal assistance regardless of client income. Ability to work collaboratively while also being self-disciplined, self-motivated, and experienced enough to work independently without significant oversight. Strong communication skills, including the ability to clearly communicate technical matters to clients with varying levels of sophistication. 3 to 5 years of litigation experience in Virginia state courts. Less experience may be sufficient depending on the quality of the candidate's experience, and the position may be scaled up for more experienced applicants. Preferred Qualifications Experience litigating in D.C. Ability to communicate with clients in Spanish Enjoyment of writing on legal subjects outside of litigation documents, such as blog posts. #J-18808-Ljbffr W3Global
