Product Development Engineer

A customer of Insight Global is looking to hire a Product Development Engineer - Seal Technology. This individual will be responsible for developing and evaluating sealing solutions through engineering analysis, supporting R&D initiatives, and collaborating with internal teams and external labs to qualify new seal technologies. The role involves hands-on design work, performance testing, and ensuring compliance with industry standards within oil and gas applications. This position is primarily office-based with occasional exposure to lab or shop environments and requires strong cross-functional communication and collaboration.

Day to Day:
- Design and develop metallic and non-metallic sealing solutions for oilfield applications
- Perform detailed engineering analyses and calculations to validate seal designs
- Conduct FMEA and support risk assessments during product development
- Collaborate with internal engineering teams and external testing laboratories
- Evaluate and qualify new seal technologies through R&D initiatives
- Prepare and maintain engineering documentation in accordance with company procedures
- Ensure product designs meet API standards (6A / 17D) and performance requirements
- Identify design or testing issues and drive continuous improvement using Lean principles

Required Skills & Experience
- 3-5+ years of experience in mechanical engineering product development (seal technology preferred)
- 3+ years of experience with metallic and non-metallic seal design and materials selection
- Hands-on experience with FEA (Finite Element Analysis) for engineering validation
- Proven experience conducting FMEA and engineering risk assessments
- Strong knowledge of API 6A and/or API 17D standards for oil & gas equipment
- Experience working with seal manufacturing, testing processes, or lab validation
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and engineering tools (spreadsheets, modeling, reporting)
