Bartender

Responsible for all aspects of the bar ranging from preparation to service. Ensures that supplies and stock are at sufficient levels to accommodate business demands during their shift. Provides guidance to the Apprentice Bartender as well as mixing and serving drinks to customers during their shift.

Key job functions include preparing ordered drinks with proper portions and ingredients such as wine, liquor and related bar service to guests at assigned stations. Mixing drinks according to prescribed recipes; keeping station stocked with all liquor, glasses and accessories necessary; accounting for all beginning cash register bank, all cash, complimentary drinks and charge receipts. Operating a cash register, ringing the proper amount into the register and giving the guest or server the correct change. Possessing a keen sense of timing and being capable of discreetly speeding up or slowing down his/her station as necessary. Being resourceful with beverages, fruit and supplies in order to maintain low beverage costs. Setting up service items at the assigned bar. Inventorying supplies at the bar at the beginning of their shift and requisitioning additional items as indicated by bar standards. Cleaning any spillage at the bar throughout the shift. Taking and serving cocktail orders. Accepting payment for cocktails as required. Counting down register drawers and completing summaries. Logging stock used during the shift. Maintaining the appropriate appearance of the bar in accordance with county health and department standards. Ensuring that all service items and stock is prepared for the shift. Remaining attentive to the needs and requests of the customers. Treating customers with courtesy and respect. Following all applicable safety procedures. Being at all times appropriately groomed and wearing the uniform provided. Performing other related duties as assigned. Ensuring that all service items and stock is prepared for the shift. Performance requirements include extensive knowledge of food and beverage products. Ability to perform basic/intermediate math skills. Ability to operate point of sales systems. Ability to read, write, and understand English. Ability to communicate effectively and establish and maintain effective working relationships with guests, staff and management. Knowledge, understanding and compliance of policies and procedures, job descriptions, daily memorandums, chemical labels and other instructions.

Qualifications include work requiring 1 year prior bartending experience. Must have completed union apprenticeship program (possess union Pour Card). Work requires schedule flexibility which may include nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed. Must possess basic reading, writing and mathematical skills. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
