Compensation Pay or shift range: $75,000 USD to $100,000 USD. The estimated range is the budgeted amount for this position. The Staff Occupational Therapist administers necessary occupational therapy treatments as determined through an evaluation process for patients who suffer from injuries or dysfunction of systems including but not limited to the musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, central nervous system, cardiovascular and integumentary systems, or other physical, mental, or learning disabilities. The purpose of this treatment is to help restore function, relieve pain, and prevent further disability so the patient can lead a normal life and carry out daily activities. The Staff Occupational Therapist performs these responsibilities individually or through appropriate delegation to and oversight of support staff. Open to New Grads with Hand Rotation! Primary Responsibilities Provide direct patient care 100% of work time, including required documentation in patients’ medical records Conduct comprehensive evaluation to determine appropriate course of care and follow-up treatment as appropriate, including fabrication/distribution of orthotics Perform and document tests and measurements appropriate for the condition (strength, range of motion, sensory perception, functional capacity, respiratory and circulatory efficiency) Administer occupational therapy treatments and monitor such treatment within the scope of practice to decrease pain, increase range of motion and strength, and promote function; treatments may include modalities, procedures, manual therapy, and written home exercise programs Meet or exceed CAO productivity standards as provided by the respective CAO Division Assess effects of treatments at appropriate intervals (at least every 30 days) and adjust treatment to achieve maximum benefit Document treatments, responses, progress, and outcomes in the chart according to federal and state regulations and CAO requirements Select and submit CPT codes consistent with level of care needed Coordinate care in accordance with insurance guidelines, authorizations, referrals, treatment plans, and benefits requirements Supervise occupational therapist assistants and related therapy support staff as authorized by state OT Practice Act and federal regulations Assist with student observation/clinical rotation as applicable Collaborate and communicate effectively with other medical providers to ensure successful patient recovery Actively participate on the therapy team, including staff meetings, CAO-sponsored events, webinars, in-services, and departmental meetings Assist with smooth clinic operations, which may include variations in scheduled hours and staffing at another CAO location Implement compliance regulations and best practices for all treatments Obtain necessary CEUs and other state-specific requirements to maintain active Occupational Therapy license and any other required certifications Perform other duties as assigned Requirements and Competencies Required Education and Experience Degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy program State licensure as an Occupational Therapist in the state of practice CPR for Healthcare Providers certification Experience and proficiency working with computers and electronic medical records Experience and proficiency in fabricating, adjusting, and fitting upper extremity orthoses Competencies / Required Skills and Abilities Strong interpersonal skills; ability to develop relationships and collaborate in a decentralized organization Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks in dynamic environments with a proven track record of results Strong oral and written communication skills with excellent self-discipline and patience Proficiency in Windows-based office technologies (Word, Excel) Thorough knowledge of CPT & ICD-10 coding procedures Thorough knowledge of Medicare and third‑party billing Thorough knowledge of workers‑compensation insurance unique features and requirements Ability to work independently Professional presentation and appearance Must be able to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English Physical Demands Ability to sit for long periods of time Use appropriate body mechanics for transfers and patient exercises Frequent bending, reaching, repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting, and sitting Some heavy lifting, pushing, and pulling exerted regularly throughout a shift Adequate hearing for duties in person and over telephone Hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity needed to operate keyboard, medical equipment, fax machine, scanner, photocopier, and telephone Clear communication to patients in person and over telephone Visual acuity adequate for reading materials from printed sources and computer screens Exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, medicinal preparations, and other common clinical environment conditions Equal Opportunity Employer Equal Opportunity Employer.
