Methodist Richardson Medical Center is seeking a full-time Night Registered Respiratory Therapist to join our team and support the Bush / Renner location. Hours of Work 7 am to 7 pm Days of Week 3 12-hour shifts alternating weekends Work Shift 12-x-3 Day (United States of America) Your Job The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) is responsible for a variety of therapeutic and diagnostic procedures, including arterial blood gas (ABG), pulmonary function tests (PFT), ventilator support, oxygen and aerosol therapy, bronchial hygiene therapy, and airway maintenance. The RRT will perform these tasks under the indirect supervision of the department’s medical director, following departmental policies and procedures. The RRT must demonstrate knowledge, skills, and the ability to care for patients of all age groups and be sensitive to the diverse needs of patients based on age, sex, race, and culture. Your Job Requirements Graduate of an accredited respiratory care program Current Basic Life Support certification required Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification required NRP and Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification, to be obtained within one year of hire Licensed in good standing as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by the Texas Medical Board Registered with the National Board for Respiratory Care At least 6 months of respiratory care experience preferred; new graduates welcome to apply Your Job Responsibilities Perform respiratory therapeutics, including oxygen administration and weaning, aerosol and humidity therapy, IPPB, incentive spirometry, airway maintenance, bronchial hygiene, chest physiotherapy, CPR, and mechanical ventilation. Perform and report prescribed cardiopulmonary diagnostic procedures such as arterial blood gas analysis, pulse oximetry, pulmonary function studies, and electrocardiograms. Prepare treatment evaluations that include a bedside respiratory physical assessment, patient interview, and review of the patient’s medical record. Apply critical-thinking skills to perform appropriate actions. Interpret chest X-ray, ABG, and PFT results when reviewing patient data. Assemble, check, operate, and troubleshoot all cardiopulmonary equipment, including artificial airways, ventilators, oxygen analyzers, oxygen delivery devices, and blood gas analyzers. Participate in infection control, safety, and quality assurance tasks. Maintain and clean all cardiopulmonary equipment and work areas. Use appropriate customer-service scripting to improve patient satisfaction. Perform other job duties as required.
