Therapy Aide The Therapy Aide assists in all aspects of direct and indirect delivery of care to our patients. Under the direction of the Director of the Department, the Therapy Aide performs tasks delegated by the therapist, chief(s) or director. Major Duties Assist the therapist with scheduling of patients, updating potential referrals from surgery schedules, creating scheduling tags for new referrals, transcribing the schedule, and distributing schedules to the nursing units. Set up, clean up, and assist with patient treatment, departmental and equipment cleaning and maintenance, and stocking linen and supplies. Perform clerical functions, effective communication/documentation, and other activities as directed. Essential Duties Manage scheduling documentation, list expected admits, and keep tags updated. Complete daily schedules within required time frames for each area. Locate surgery schedules, create tags for possible admits, determine rehab admits, and assign to a team. Maintain clerical aspects of the job based on area of practice, keeping forms current. Orient new staff and registry on required daily forms (billing, time logs, etc.). Assist PT/OT in care per policy; communicate with therapist regarding patients’ responses and assist level during treatment; add cues to patients. Organize patient/treatment area independently before treatment and attend to set-up after treatment. Order supplies based on department needs/requirements. Manage responsibilities such as Daily temperature logs, equipment check list, and cleaning of gym. Assume responsibility for special projects assigned by Department Director/Supervisor. For Outpatient duties: pull charts for the next business day and ensure appropriate documentation is prepared. Pre‑prepare discharged charts for scanning (proper labeling, no staples or clips). For Wound Care: assist PT, gather supplies, set up a clean field, drape and position the patient, and organize room set‑up. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications High school education or equivalent. Ability to communicate problems to supervising therapist and address issues with patients, department operations, or other areas. Capable of reading the policy and procedure manual and understanding the information that relates to the duties. Demonstrate compliance with safety, hazardous waste, and infection control procedures. Use proper body mechanics with patients to prevent injury. Capable of working assigned shifts, overtime when approved, and weekends if requested. Adhere to all hospital and departmental policies and procedures, including annual updates of emergency procedures. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Health Sciences or related field. 1 year experience in a Physical Therapy Department in an aide position, utilizing modalities as indicated. Required Licenses / Certifications Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association. Fire Life Safety Training (LA City).
