Tax Senior Manager
Thriving, profitable regional CPA firm is in search of a Senior Tax Manager to complement their expanding team. This role allows for a mix of office and remote work, with the choice of being stationed in L. A., Woodland Hills, Oxnard, or Torrance, CA. Responsibilities
- Oversees technical tax review and approval for all tax returns and government audits.
- Acts as a specialist in a specific area or industry.
- Takes full ownership of complex tax returns and assigns tasks to tax preparers as necessary.
- Manages client service for assigned clients or those delegated by the Partner.
- Supervises and coordinates government tax audits; may represent clients before tax authorities.
- Contributes to staff growth by participating in recruitment, performance assessments, training, and delivering professional development programs.
- Ensures efficient flow of tax returns through preparation process to guarantee accurate and timely completion.
- Handles billing and collections promptly and accurately.
- Produces various reports and projects as requested by partners.
- Evaluates tax preparation and research software for recommendations to partners.
- Engages in firm initiatives to develop new business through networking, community involvement, and industry activities.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated understanding of current tax regulations.
- Proficiency in computerized tax preparation, research, and planning software.
- Occasional and heavy overtime work required, especially from January to April.
- Seven to ten years of progressive experience in public accounting with increasing complexity and research responsibilities.
- At least two years of client representation before tax authorities.
- Minimum one year of supervision over tax preparers.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, master's in taxation preferred.
- Mandatory forty hours of annual continuing education for technical and business skill development.
- Active CPA license and good standing with the American Institute of CPAs.
