Plant Manager K-8 Job ID: 5708109 Application Deadline: Posted until filled Posted: May 12, 2026 6:00 AM (UTC) Starting Date: Immediately Job Details REPORTS TO: Principal FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt SUPERVISES: No DEPT: Maintenance & Facilities FTE: 1.0 WORK CALENDAR: 253 GRADE: K SUMMARY: Provide students and staff a clean, safe, healthy and properly maintained environment in which to learn and develop. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide skilled general maintenance and maintenance oversight of assigned facilities, grounds, warehousing and/or equipment. Open and closes buildings and secures campuses on time, including checking for safety and cleaning walk ways. Maintain complete HVAC system, including water treatment, filter replacement, preventative maintenance and EMS (Energy Management System) control. Maintain outside walkways, playground equipment and landscaping. Keep adequate supplies in classrooms, restrooms and keep restrooms clean and maintained. Arrange equipment and grounds for activities as needed. Check custodial calendar for activities, plans accordingly and meets with Principal once a week. Perform maintenance on electrical, plumbing, carpentry, hardware, HVAC, EMS, landscaping and record keeping. Demonstrate necessary supervisory and training skills. Schedule maintenance and outside contractor operations as not to interfere with instructional time. Perform and maintain records of preventative maintenance. Maintain all records, logs, requisitions filed and up to date; including but not limited to: roof inspections, fire inspections, health playground inspections, equipment maintenance, inventory, SFB PM's (School Facility Board Preventative Maintenance) and absence reports. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Facilities and Assistant Director. Notify Director, Assistant Director, school office staff of any unsafe or hazardous conditions. Notify administration and school office staff of any unsafe or hazardous conditions. Maintain and control inventory. Available when called for emergencies or additional assignments. Establish and maintains good rapport with students, employees, community members and vendors. Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality. Other job related duties as assigned. EDUCATION: High school diploma or GED required. MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in maintenance, and custodial work required. LICENSING: Obtain and maintain a valid Arizona Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card (AZ IVP FPCC). KNOWLEDGE OF: Techniques and methods for organizing, prioritizing and monitoring work. Standard practices, methods and materials of assigned work. Standard system functions and methods of assigned work. Project management principles and practices. Business math concepts. Filing and record-keeping principles. Occupational hazards and applicable safety principles and practices. Uses and properties of supplies and equipment. Applicable federal, state and local laws, codes, regulations (based on assignment). Customer service principles. Specialized equipment relevant to area of assignment. Modern office technology. SKILL IN: Effective time management and problem solving skills. Organizing tasks, meeting deadlines and prioritizing competing demands. Comprehending reference books and manuals. Performing inspections and monitoring safety conditions and quality of service level. Performs preventative maintenance task and documents appropriately. Assessing and evaluating maintenance and repair activities. Providing attention to detail in assignments. Business math computations. Organizing and maintaining records and files. Maintaining and updating data and documentation. Operating assigned tools and equipment. Interpreting and applying applicable laws, codes, regulations and standards. Providing customer service. Utilizing a computer and relevant software applications. Utilizing communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisors, the general public and others to sufficiently exchange or convey information and to receive work direction. ADA AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Ability to lift 50 pounds. Working Conditions: Work is performed in both the field and in an indoor office environment with moderate exposure to hazardous physical conditions (such as mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibration, etc.); moderate exposure to atmospheric conditions (such as fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, etc.); moderate exposure to hazardous materials (such as chemicals, blood and other body fluids); and moderate exposure to extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, movement restrictions and intense noise.
