Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking a skilled Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 2-3 years of experience in an Emergency Department setting and have the ability to handle a variety of patient situations with professionalism and care.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality patient care in a fast-paced Emergency Room environment.
• Perform duties such as IV starts, triage, telemetry, and conscious sedation.
• Interpret and manage dysrhythmias effectively.
• Administer procedural sedation as required.
• Participate in ongoing education and training, including EKG testing and any facility-specific education.
• Assist in the transfer of patients when necessary, maintaining a high standard of care.
• Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals in a cooperative team environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2-3 years of Emergency Department experience.
• Acceptance of first-time travelers; local candidates are welcome with rate differences.
• Required certifications include ACLS, BCLS, NIH, PALS, and MOAB (MOAB class offered by the facility).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with critical care patients, trauma, triage, and inpatient boarding.
• Certifications in ENPC and TNCC are favorable.

Shift and Scheduling

• Target nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4, adjustable based on patient acuity.
• 36 hours per week guaranteed, only available for assignments of 13 weeks.
• Shifts are 12 hours, from 18:45 to 07:15.
• Weekend commitment required every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday).
• RTO limited to 7 days maximum for auto offers.

Unit Details

• Stroke certified with the capability to administer t-Pa and TNK.
• Chest pain certified, handling walk-in STEMI cases and transferring to the appropriate cath lab for intervention.
• No trauma or dialysis services; these patients will be transferred when necessary.
• Facility does not admit pediatric patients; transfers are required for this demographic.
• The department is staffed with nurses, CNAs, MUR, paramedics, and ED MDs and MLPs.
• A dedicated charge nurse is present 24/7.
• Patients may experience boarding in the ED MSU; the department can become overcapacity.

Equipment and Systems

• Utilization of Alaris IV pumps for medication administration.
• Scanning technology for medications and lab specimens.
• Unit systems include Pyxis and EPIC.

Orientation

Units will provide 2 shifts of 12-hour orientation, with additional hospital orientation required during the first week. Travelers must be available for classes each day.

Scrubs

Navy and/or white scrubs will be required for this position.

Other Requirements

All candidates must pass an EKG testing prior to commencing work in this specialty.
